Unusual Electrolux Model E

Here's a somewhat unusual Electrolux Model E that I haven't had out in a while. I saw it down in the workshop today and thought to bring it up to give it go around the house.

I think it's a late model inasmuch as many of its features are that of the E-Automatic that came after it, or else it's one that an Electrolux salesman custom upgraded to close a sale.

• Vinyl woven hose instead of cloth.

• Chrome machine-end coupler instead of hammertone.

• Suction regulator valve on hose handle.

• Swing-open cord winder (This one is hard-wired into the machine. I've also seen some with a short female plug coming out of the machine that the cord winder plug connects to.)

• Combination floor tool has a spring-loaded connector neck instead of just a friction-fit connector.

• Stabilizing "foot" around front caster to help prevent the machine from tipping over.

It came from an Electrolux salesman who got it in on a trade-in some years ago and thought it was so nice that he kept it. As you can see, it's in immaculate condition.

Checkrate/Likes 2 ~ ~ For comparison's sake, here's a more usual Electrolux Model E, other than the optional (hard-wired) cord winder. It's an early model inasmuch as its accessories are those of the standard Model E. • Woven cloth hose. • Hammertone machine-end coupler. • No suction regulator valve on hose handle. • Combination floor tool has a friction-fit connector. • There's no stabilizing "foot" around front caster to help prevent the machine from tipping over. Checkrate/Likes 1 *From my understanding...* I believe I read somewhere that the stabilizer for the front foot was added to later versions and that the earlier versions did not have it. I�ve had two of these over time, one with a chrome cordwinder and the hammered painted cloth hose just like yours. I still have the hose and it doesn�t leak at all! I keep it with my Grandmother's XXX I have as it�s original hose was replaced in 1983 and the rarely used Silverado era hose is drying out inside. The vac didn�t come with any wands or tools and eventually I ended up swapping it for a Gold model L from my Mom's Electrolux man�s shed. I told him I wanted something with the power nozzle outlet and he let me swap from I guess was his shed of what were trade ins. This was back around 1990 to 1991. I can�t remember if it had the stabilizer feet but I think it did. I had obtained it from the town dump�s �gift shop� where people leave things that work fine that they don�t want anymore and anyone can take from the offerings. This was on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. The cordwinder on it was fantastic, much better than the newer designs in my opinion. The second one I had, had a plastic woven hose which was a creamy white color with some stripes. The handle had the suction control. It did not have the stabilizer feet. The hose was leaking so I deleted it but kept the ends and installed them on a modern day plastic hose and I use it with my AF. I had it from 2006 to 2008 and gave it away to a friend who no longer has it. I think he may have thrown it away unfortunately. I had bought this one on eBay and it came from Denver, Colorado to me in Dallas and oddly, when I gave it away... it was to my friend in Denver! Jon
