Hey guys I went down to the recycling centre a couple of days ago and I found a really good nick hose for a GE swivel top vacuum cleaner, I found the vacuum cleaner on the side of the road when they were doing council pick up and it works fine, Here’s a picture of it

Thanks for that information Mark.
Interesting that some of GE appliances in Australia ended up going over to the Black and Decker company. Same thing happened in Canada...sometime in the 1970's all our well known Canadian General Electric kitchen appliances - especially their famous toaster ovens and electric irons - started being sold under the Black and Decker name. We even saw some CGE vacuum cleaners relabelled Black and Decker. Our Canadian General Electric small appliances plant was in Barrie, Ontario. |

Fits on the Cloth bag But before I used it I just doublechecked that there wasn’t any holes in the cloth bag and they weren’t thankfully, also these are the attachments that I have for it but the machine is on the other side of the country

Yes, I had heard the GE Swivel Tops were still available until 1986 or so in Australia, quite amazing.
Here in the US, GE vacuums began to be produced under the Premier Electric name in I think about 1972 (still using GE motors) and ended production in the early 1980s. GE's small appliance division in the US too was sold to Black and Decker in 1984, with some still being produced under license with the GE name, while others carried the Black and Decker name. In the 2000s a few Eureka produced vacuums were licensed under the GE name to be sold by Walmart stores as Walmart licensed the name for around a decade for their store line of small appliances. Here in the States the paper bags are still available for the GE and Premier swivel tops and are made by Envirocare. Nice vacuum though! I like the Swivel Tops, and its neat to see what ones in other countries looked like compared to ours. The attachments look identical to what ours do. |
