I said that back when it first happened that I knew someone would buy them out and get everyone back. Regardless of the logistics of it, its better than being dead.
I do believe Great Star makes branded tools for Walmart under their badge engineered name "Hyper Tough" and formerly "Master Mechanic". Like I said last time, Shop Vac is a very small company with only just over 1,000 workers worldwide, with 430 of that amount at the main factory in Williamsport, so they are thrilled to be back again. It's a family. It's like when auto plants shut down, it has the same effect on the workers, it was their home for decades, they don't want to leave or see it go. It looks like Great Star is only involved in it as the moneyman, and won't change the name or the company's business model. -------------------------------------------- “GreatStar is buying this as a going concern and wants to bring back people who know how to make Shop Vacs,” said Fink, who spoke with company executives on Tuesday. “Their expectation is that it’s going to take around 150 days to get orders with previous customers back as they had sourced other container vacs when the closure was announced. As orders start to come back, they’ll grow the hiring of people. The key is to get Shop Vacs back onto the store shelves.” www.inquirer.com/business... |
