Like many during the recent lockdowns I've been clearing out stuff, and came across a Goblin Major Model 2 vacuum cleaner that I was given back in the 80's by a neighbour.

I think she told me that she got it before WW2.

Is there somewhere I could find out when this was manafactured?

btw, the vacuum still works, and had quite good suction!

GOBLIN MAJOR

Hello Mike,

Just seen it on ebay, nice machine, the most powerful goblin of its time at 350 watts. It had eight feet of hosing and both the ace55 three way carpet nozzle and a large plain type plus floor brush and felt based parquet floor tool; I think the major only differed from the forerunner of the deluxe ace model 55; the reliance model 66 which was fitted with three fans but only the standard leather strap type handle: a rare goblin indeed!! I would love it but probably couldn't run to the courier costs even if I knew how to go about it. Not to mention absolutely no where to store it!!

Regards, Walter, Shropshire.

GOBLIN MAJOR.

Manufactured from circa 1933-40. I don't know if it was made after the war?

Walter.

Walter Covered Most of it - The Major was made from 1933 - 39 or 40 (when ever the factory switched over for war production) Yours would be the second version of it. This is the first version (from my collection) with all the parts. After the war they changed to the T2 for commercial use.

Ah yes

.... makes sense as Doug's has the brown pre war coloured body covering and yours sports the later just post war triumph G46 type of cover pattern.
