Sometimes reading vacuum cleaner owner's manuals I notice some things that stay the same over the decades.

A few examples I've seen:

My mom bought a new Hoover Windtunnel Whole House Rewind bagless upright a few years ago. I noticed it has Hoover's typical useage of the word "cleaner" instead of "vacuum cleaner."
It also made me chuckle, seeing "Please do not return your cleaner to Hoover in Glenwillow Ohio as this will only delay service."

This is basically a slight rewording of Hoover's 70s and 80s manuals saying "Do not return your cleaner to Hoover in North Canton Ohio..."

I seem to recall also the manual for the 2007 retro Hoover Constellation retains a lot of older language, particularly as far as attachment usage. "venetian blinds, table tops, radiators" just like their older 70s and 80s ones read.

Kenmore vacuum owner's manuals have also stayed the same over the years. New Kenmore owner's manuals still have the little diagram that explains how the vacuum cleaner works. Line drawings have stayed basically the same since the 80s, and are just updated for new designs and features.

Also the subheadings like "How to assemble your new Kenmore vacuum cleaner," "How to Start," etc are all the same since the 80s.

The attachment useage chart also is a carryover from likely the late 70s/early 80s. As is the note "attachments used in dirty areas, such as under a refrigerator should be washed before using on other surfaces, as they could leave marks."

Even the new Cleva made Kenmores, which took over from Panasonic, and they from Whirlpool, use this same material.

Just thought it was interesting how things stay the same over the decades.
I'm sure there are experts on other cleaners I'm not familiar with that could share similar from other makes.

I think these similarities come from the fact that, while the vacuum has changed a lot, the format people expect and are comfortable with when it comes to instruction manuals has stayed the same.

If you look at Convertible manuals, you'll see "changing the bulb and brushes" are photos from way back.
I guess they figured that the instructions are the same , so... just keep them.
