How do I go about switching hose ends from the old-style braided hose to a new stock vinyl one?

You can't do it...

Unfortunately, that can't be done without specialized equipment. Your best bet is to just buy a replacement hose. The recent thread linked below will give you an information overload on the topic.

This is correct

Cannot be done except for:

The hose handle can be removed from its fitting but the fitting is permanently attached to the hose material in the factory. The OEM hose handle will not fit any generic hoses.

If cost is a factor I suggest searching eBay for a used OEM vinyl rubber one on eBay or a generic one. That’s your best bet. Generics are almost always readily available...OEM used vinyl rubber ones come up periodically for the 1205. Pay careful attention to the ends and the handle so you get the right one and an OEM one if that’s what you want as OEM handles have the round dial for the suction control on the underside. Handles cannot be switched from an OEM to a generic likely due to patent reasons the generics have to be different from the OEM handles.

Yes check the other thread.

Aerus does sell a replacement OEM vinyl hose for the 1205. It’s $129.
