I bought a Kirby Heritage II off of Craig's list awhile back for $25.00. The vacuum is in very good condition. It had been through some abuse. The paper bag had burst on the inside of the outer cloth bag (very messy) and there was a bunch of carpet thread wrapped around the brush roll. I washed the cloth bag and cleaned the brush roll and the Kirby runs like new. Over all it was very clean. The inside of the rug nozzle is still shiny and the brush roll looks like new. The mini sani emptor leaks and I fixed that by carefully wrapping black electric tape around the emptor where it meets the fan housing. It looks okay. Next I might try some adhesive sealant or some sort of liquid gasket maker. No attachments where included but I can use the hose from my Kirby classic omega but I have to jam the safety switch open so I can use the attachments. I like it better this way because I have heard from this site that running older Kirby's with the second speed engaged for extended periods of time is not recommended. The kirby is not as noisy and the suction is fair. I use my Electrolux model L for above the floor cleaning mostly anyway. I hate to ask this question, I feel like all I have done is take information from this web site.. So many members are more experienced than I am. But if anyone wants to scan and post a Heritage II manual I would really enjoy reading it and looking at the pictures. I already know all about the Kirby we have had them in our family since day one. I recently polished and packed away my grandmothers Kirby Classic Omega that she recently gave me. The original bag is very porous and blows dust from every direction. I am going to keep it as I treasure and not as my every day Vacuum. It is very special to me. To sum this all up.. I have really enjoyed reading the posts on this site and learning about all the different makes and model of Vacuum cleaners. I am not a collector myself. Having a bunch of stuff around me really annoys me. I am very simple and do not like a lot of clutter. Maybe some day I will get over this annoyance and start collecting. I really love this web site and it is an out let for me to feed my need for my love of vacuum cleaners. Thank you to all and may God bless. Kenny Loveland |

Sounds like the rubber sealing ring is missing or too compacted on your emptor - they are simply rubbercemented in place and often fall off. Sure Kenny, I have the 1984 Heritage II owners manual. The manual is 8.5" x 11" and 42 pages. Printed in red and shades of gray with photos and excellently drawn accurate illustrations. It'll take an evening to scan it up but I'll get to it asap. Unless someone else has it ready to post now. Dave |

I have added my mini collection to my members photo gallery if anybody would like to look. I do not have much. 1.My Kirby Heritage II - Acquired from craig's list for $25.00. Just needed a good cleaning. No worn parts. My favorite 2.My Electrolux model L - bought off of ebay about three years ago. Runs well. The power nozzle pn1 handle broke and I had to be creative about fixing it. Took it to the local vacuum shop for a wand replacement but they just hammered in another steel wand but it just kept slipping out. I need to replace the power nozzle soon. I have learned to be careful about vacuum shops as some are not very knowledgeable about older machines. 3.Dirt devil hand vac - my grandfather passed away over christmas and he and my grandmother where big garage sale fans. He had three dirt devil hand vacs and I acquired one from him. With attachments and converter (very poor suction) using converter. 4.Dirt devil broom vac - I found this recently for $5.99 in a pawn shop and it reminded me of the one I had when I was about six. It works well for small jobs but by no means a deep cleaner like the Kirby. All of the vacuums I use in the pictures. I could not justify having a vacuum and not using it. They all get a work out. I mow lawns for a part time job and I am always covered in grass and so is my vehicle. The dirt devil hand vac is great for this. All of the other pictures are of me and the vacuums I had when I was younger. They are gone now. I wish I had my Regina Housekeeper back. The gasket in my Heritage II emptor is intact. But it still leaks a little. I have cleaned it out twice but some how grit and sand builds up in front of the gasket. CLICK HERE TO GO TO kloveland's LINK |
