This is so cool. I don't know if it is original or not, but the shortened pipe on the back and wheels say it is.

Looks too rough and slobbed together to be a salesmans sample. Likely a failed prototype as a proof of concept type of idea. There was another company that made a hand vac that could be converted into an upright, I forgot who. But it had a stick and a metal plate that looked like a clothes iron shape.

Back then there was no small or large vacuums, so if your house was too small for say....a big clunky Hoover 700, you were out of luck.

I thought it was a toy, maybe something a dealer threw in with the upright. The companies that did that were Premier(for a short time) and Westinghouse.

I think it might be, I remember seeing one in an eBay auction and I seem to remember it had a solid metal bottom plate. But don't know if I saved the photo. I actually have that same little Westinghouse hand vac now too. If I could ever find the stick attachment that would be cool to have.

Never seen them

They are so cool looking. Definitely from the "Rocket Age"
