Yes it is higher in price(these all seem to be) and the plating is gone. With some brasso and a buffing wheel, I could see this becoming a very unique looking vac, being all brass.

Umm

I'm pretty sure that's not brass. It looks like painted or adoninized aluminum. It looks similar to the apex hand vacuum.

Its the original design

I have the sweeper vac version, it has wear spots where the chrome is coming off to reveal a surface like the above. Seems its only on the motor with mine, the rest is polished aluminum. Even with plating it has a yellow-ish tint to it compared to the rest. Brass or adoninized aluminum, either way I get the feeling it will look pretty slick polished up.

I stand corrected. I just noticed the swatch of gold paint on the other brush cap and rating plate, I though it was just an extremely weathered version. I know my Sweeper vac is like this though, even if just on one piece.

The sweeper vac is super cool. I'm not sure what yours is made of but it's not the same as this one.

Yeah it's just sprayed with crappy gold paint. Even the screws and motor brush caps are painted. Matter of fact, it *almost* looks like the edges of the model plate were painted over.. so likely not a factory paint job.

The price is fine. But that $45 shipping charge is not.

The vacuum has been resprayed with gold Krylon - but not any time recently.

These only came in one color then - highly polished chrome. The exception was when Polar Cub came around and started making the lower assembly painted.
