So beautiful! I love how the parent company married the Electrolux canister to a Eureka Roto-Matic power nozzle with a Vibra-Groomer helix brush roll.
In Canada, Electrolux labeled these cleaners as "Dometic" because Eureka was already making cleaners for our Eaton's department stores under Eaton's store brand Viking. |

I kept all the paper work from the time. Electrolux Sweden and Electrolux USA were completely separate companies. The importer of the Lux (the one you have now) allowed them to be sold by anyone - even door to door sales teams. Well, you know what happened with that. Customers would call their local Electrolux office for bags, and the salesman who delivered them would discover the customer had a Viking but was told it was an "Electrolux" because it was made by Electrolux Sweden. There were even fist fights. You'll get a huge kick out of reading all about it. The V.D.T.A. was very useful in the day - printing the press release from one company and the next month was a retort to the first company. It was hilarious in hind sight.

I seen that auction for the canister and was 20 seconds away from placing a bid but decides to pass on it since it was just a display model with nothing with it. I wondered who got it and if it would show up here, I guess now I know. lol
I like the colors of it and yeah, definitely do not see these at all - if ever. Aside from ibaisaic, nobody else has videos of one on YouTube. |
