Hi guys, it's Moderneezer again.

A few weeks ago, I bought the Wessel Werk brushless nozzle modeled RD 285 at the Chapman boutque (a store in my city of residence that sells vacuum cleaners and other things). I watched several videos on YouTube about this attachment (including some in the Performance Reviews channel) and read some threads and comments about such tool in the Vacuumland website and I wondered if I should get this item.

Well I got it and, compared to the floor brush that I bought a few years back (look at the 3rd picture) and to the combination nozzle that came with Numatic James at my workplace, the RD 285 cleans better and requires fewer maintenance but it makes a scraping sound that can irritate other people around me and I can't remove the rubber strips from the nozzle. These strips are stiff compared to one on James' combi-tool and to the one on the turbobrush modeled TK 286 (also from Wessel Werk and another attachement that I bought). Another issue is that, because the nozzle's flat, it can get stuck under a door.

I hope that someone can give me an advice on how to tenderize the rubber strips. I came across some websites that mention some methods involving wintergreen oil.

Oils of many types are used to do as you wish. Get armor all or car interior cleaner it's good for cleaning, softening and not eating away at the rubber.

Silicone spray. It preserves rubber.

Does this nozzle

Really clean any better than the one with the brushes? I would think the bristles would do a nicer job of sweeping fine dust from the floor than those rubber squeegees.

Yes, I suppose you don’t have to vacuum the squeegees like you do with the bristles as they capture dust within them.

I had one similar with the rubber squeegee and a row of the stiff bristles. Never liked it, it was loud and felt and sounded plasticy and cheap compared to something with nice horsehair bristles...quiet and cleans quite well. I’ve always liked the Electrolux combination rug and floor tool, feels sturdy and quality, has a full wrap bumper, horsehair bristle strips and converts to rugs in seconds. With the elbow for the metal wand system, it will fit any 1 1/4 inch wand provided it doesn’t have a lock button on the end of the wand.

@JO here's an older comparison video between different styles of tools.
This squeegee tool really is one of the most versatile hard floor tools out there.
