Tom, 1.3 billion users are on YouTube with 5 billion videos watched every day. It's very much alive as the second most visited website on the internet next to Google. It's the main revenue source for tens of thousands of its content creators |

I guess it's over my head how to make money with videos. I make money fixing vacuum cleaners. I will honestly say I've never paid to watch a you tube video. But if people are getting an income from it, I guess it's like any other video you make to get paid for making (like xxx movies). I think of you tube as being full of song videos.

You don't pay to watch YouTube videos. People pay YouTube to advertise on YouTube and sponser content creators who then get a cut after so many views, constant uploads and subscriptions. |

Absolutely. I do understand where younger people are coming from when they say that YouTube is 'dead'. It's not the trendy place they go to post and watch content created by and for their peers. They go to TikTok for that. Like everything else online, it's matured and evolved over the years. But that doesn't mean it somehow lacks any and all relevance. YouTube is a great resource for many things. I make wide use of YouTube videos in the classes I teach and for things I do at home. Watching a video of how to do something, (e.g., take apart and service a vacuum cleaner or replace the thermostat on a dryer), even if it is done by an amateur, is often more useful than reading printed instructions written by a professional--and I say this as a trained technical writer.

Youtube is great. There are 'fix it' videos for almost any thing on there. I have learned how to fix the self propel mechanism on my mower, fixed the self propel on my Kirby, etc. There are reviews on every day products from every day people and so so much more. I learned how to play the organ from watching the lessons given by an organ teacher. It is a great source of information.
