What stupid idiot thought that a loose crummy crimp contact was a good idea it was rated a 15 amps but when it got all melted it was only at 10 amps so I had 5 amps of wiggle room. I HATE CHINESE SCRAP this peace of junk could have caused a fire and to boot I was asleep when this was going on.

How did you have it wired? That looks like arcing from the wire not being tight enough to me.

If you want good replacement connector ends, get Hubbell brand. They are expensive but they never break. The ones I have are 45 years old.

I don't see a UL or ETL stamp on it. Granted, they sometimes just put that on their products regardless, but that might've been an indication of its quality, or lack thereof.

I don't blame you for being pissed off

I would be too. No excuse for putting out crap like that when it puts lives in jeopardy. Here's the thing. I get upset when something that used to be made well here in the states and now is being manufactured in China,I put more of the blame on the American company that either moved over there or contracts with a manufacturer there because whoever ordered said product signed off on the quality as well as all the other details and if there is no quality control throughout the process then shame on them.

It just seems so easy to just point the finger towards China when I believe given the same raw materials they can produce the same quality as we do. I think any company who jobs or sources their product out to another manufacturer is responsible for the quality of the end product. If it's inferior to what they ordered then they need to go after said manufacturer and resolve the issue and reject the job or what ever it takes.I don't see that happening as much as it should.

It's all about money. Always will be. It's buyer beware as always. I just think any blame needs to be spread more evenly to include the name of the company whose name is on the product and not just calling it Chinese junk.

I assume you were running a heater off of this? That’s something you just can’t really do on an extension cord, even one rated properly. The issue is there will always be voltage drop in the cord, unless it has EXTREMELY thick wires. This voltage drop causes the heater to try and draw more current than it has available, this then causes heat to build up. It has absolutely nothing to do with the cord being inferior quality or a low grade plug, it’s just not safe at all to run a space heater off of an extension cord, the ONLY safe way to do it is right from the wall socket. Heaters demand a LOT of current for a long, sustained period, and that is really too much to ask of an extension cord and a plug end like this.

If you have to use an extension cord for the heater, get a 20 amp rated cord
