Hello,

I purchased a new in box Riccar Radiance Premium - noticed the amber lights illuminated one time during initial use and have not illuminated since; even when picking up noticeable debris (i.e., rice as recommended to clean the sensor eye). Does anyone have any input on these? I’ve scoured the net trying to find anything related to the Riccar Radiance or Simplicity Synergy.

I’m not sure if a warranty would apply, it was purchased through a vacuum dealer selling on eBay.

Any advice would be great!

Thanks,
Tyler

@domblom36

I would make sure the sensors are aligned there should be a quick access door on the bottom. Some of them they were on the sides of the dirt path easily accessible under the white cover.

When I worked at the Tacony Factory, dealers who couldn't or wouldn't fix one were urged to send it to the factory to the Technical Services Department. The department fixed the machine and charged the dealer's account. They used an entire bag of rice to clean the sensor. If that didn't fix it, the circuit board was replaced.

If you read the warranty in the last page of the owners manual, I believe it revokes the warranty for 'non legitimate' sales like eBay. I think for warranty work, it has to be purchased from a dealer with dealer's receipt. I still have the email from the vice president of Tacony spelling out how the warranty works and what was enforceable against the company.

@kirboover @dysonman1

@kirboover - Who would I be calling without an area code?? Lol

@dysonman1 - An entire bag of rice? I used 2 teaspoons thinking I was doing great work lmao, didn’t help the machine is flawless otherwise brand new with no issues. Still bothers me slightly as it should work. Might take it into a local riccar dealer and see what they say; I’d prefer them not to ship it out but if they must, so be it.

Thank you all for your insight! I’m new to the forum but I’m enjoying myself so far.

Let me make sure I understand correctly, are the amber lights staying on or not turning off? Things tend to get caught in there and make the lights stay on, as something Is stuck in the path of the infrared beam. If they aren't coming on, I'd be more worried about a problem with the electronics that run that thing.

Take apart the vacuum and find the sensor and clean the eye with rubbing alcohol on Q-tip and a can of compressed air. I don't see how sucking rice up would help, it would just make more dust and none of it would clean the eye.

I had the same issue with the child-protection sensor eyes on my garage door. But I later took that garbage down and replaced the motor with a vintage model that didn;t have those things, got so annoying to deal with. If a spider made a web over it, it would trigger them.

Hello, I am also located in Pittsburgh and am interested in one of these. Where are local dealers?

@asb114

If you visit Riccar’s website they will give you a list of authorized dealers/servicers in your area. There’s a few in the Pittsburgh area.

"What number please?"

@domblom36,

Welcome first of all. There are probably 886 prefixed phone numbers in many states, and I hope he gets back to you with the right area code. Here in the S.f. Bay Area, in Hayward mostly the 886 number was widely used on land line phones circa 1970's. The area code for 886 numbers is 925, so 925-886-XXXX. Hayward is just across "the pond" from silicon valley. I'm sure he will complete the number when he sees this.

I would try as Huskyvacs suggested with cleaning the lens on the sensor. The cordless mouse to my desktop PC stopped working and when I started to open the battery comp. I spotted a little bug the size if a lady bug up where the lazor light resides. Good luck! Billy
