I've been using an Oreck Orbitor with dry cleaning powders for years now. If you use Host, then you need an actual brush that's soft enough for carpets. Oreck sells a red and black one, and the black one is the softest. I've had good luck recently using Capture powder and the white bonnet to scrub it in. Once you have a machine, Host and Capture are cheap enough to experiment with and see what works best for your carpet. Capture has worked best with my medium pile carpet.
Host and Capture officially recommend you use a specialized machine with a spinning brush roll to clean the carpet, which you can rent from Host. Before you invest any big money into a floor machine, you might want to rent one of these first. CLICK HERE TO GO TO bagintheback's LINK

I'm not typically a fan of the bonnet cleaning method, as I feel it only cleans the very top of the fibers, not down even in the middle of the nap, let alone the bottom. And also, with this method you really need to be using a cleaning chemical that will encapsulate as it dries, basically it dries to a salt crystal type crust that vacuums away easily. The Oreck dry powder and the pre-spray work this way, and the powder works, in my opinion, MUCH better than the bonnet type cleaning. Using something like Fabuloso will leave a residue.

I see Sebo sells a brush machine with its powder, but I don't know anything about it other than what I see on their website---sebo.us |
