Sometime around the beginning of September, I was in the market for a cheap water filtration vacuum. Nothing fancy, just maybe just a gateway to getting something more expensive like a Hyla or rainbow. I found this vacuum on Alibaba for around $150 plus shipping. Against my better judgment, I decided to get this Haier model ZTBJ1500-0201 over the $99 Kalorik on amazon purely because I liked the look of this one better.
I probably should have realized but because it's coming directly from China it runs on 220v so when it showed up at my door I spent most of the day searching for a 1500w transformer. Just for kicks I took the whole thing apart and managed to swap a motor and speed control from an old broken dirt devil that I had laying around. Now that it runs on 120v it's actually a pretty nice vacuum to use! Like I said this is my first water filtration vacuum but im really liking it even if it's not a very refined example. Some of the attachments feel kind of cheap but it actually uses standard hose diameter so I was able to use Wessel-Werk turbo cleaner heads with it. The speed control is more useful than you might think and I kinda wish more vacuums came with them now. The only downside is cleaning the vacuum afterward but it can be made easier if you just put the whole thing (minus the top) in the bathtub and rinse it, letting the foam filter dry separately. Overall not a bad introduction to water filtration machines! |

I've used a number of machines with that same water filter set up (no separator). They seem like such a mess to clean afterwards. By necessity, the no separator models have to be tall.
I'm glad you like your machine. When you get a Rainbow, or other separator type water vac, it will change the way you feel about them. Far less cleaning and a more squat shape makes them easier to move. |

Are amazing. The older ones could be had for fairly cheap.
I've had the e series 2 speed gold, silver and black. I still have the blue. Let me rephrase that my wife has a blue one. If you get a chance for a rainbow e series 2 speed get it. I found one for $30. The water basin had shredded paper in it. I soaked for a day and it cleaned up and ran great. Your house feels clean after using them. |
