This morning, I found this Oreck XL 5000 brand new in the box at an estate sale for only $20. The sale was in a huge house high up on a hill, lots of vintage housewares, clothes and decorations to be had. It was very difficult to find and get to but I’d say it was beyond worth it for this awesome find. Since it was the last day of the sale everything was 50% off, even better! I’ve included pictures of the vacuum and the awesome view from where we parked. Score!

Great find, and what a view! Imagine if that Oreck was ever used, that high desert sand would be what it would have picked up.

Is this when Oreck was contracting Bissell to make his machines?

Indeed it was. Oreck began making the machines "in house" starting in 1997 when they bought the old Regina plant in Biloxi, Mississippi. The XL-4000's were made by MacDonald electric in West Germany.
