Does anyone have a suggestion for Hoover Type H (Celebrity) bags? Are the genuine green Hoover ones the best?

Is there a substitute bag for another vacuum that would work and have better filtration?

Any ideas or experiences?

Are the newer ones in the black and white Hoover packaging the same bags as the older blue and white? I heard some of the newer Hoover bags are made by some other company. But they still look green to me.

I think Envirocare is also pretty good. DVC made a lot of bags for older machines, I understand they closed up several years ago. Is anyone making aftermarket bags for older vacs anymore?

I'm going to look at Ace Hardware and see if they have any Hoover Genuine Type H bags. If not I'll order online.

The White Hoover bags aren't very good. Last time I bought H bags they were still green, but in the new packaging

Cool, good to know DVC is still in business.

I looked in ACE Hardware this week. They had all the Hoover bags, A, C, D, H, J, K, S, short/long Handivac, etc. in both the older blue/white and the newer black/white packaging. They wanted $8.99 for a pkg of the 3 H bags though, so I think I'll just get them online. Can get more for that on eBay.

I've gotten great deals on genuine Hoover bags

gottahaveahoove's profile picture
at 'real' hardware stores. Most have just sat there. I've also been able to find belts for Brushvacs, etc, too.
I stood in "Bag Plant,#2 at Hoover. I was happy to discover that the green bags were made of paper that came from right here in the Poconos.

I always looked at the Celebrities as

flattened Connies. The bags fill fast, even though they are large. The cleaners are a bit loud, too, but I like them.

How many hoover bags do you think you have in your 'storage' for your massive collection?

I've wondered that myself.

gottahaveahoove's profile picture
I have large, plastic 'tucker totes filled with them. There are tons of type A,C,D,J,H, short and long housing handivacs, etc. There are even several pkgs of the Handisacs, too. I find them here and there, mostly there, in thrift shops, old hardware stores, etc. I only use genuine Hoover. I've gotten a lot of bojack bags that came with cleaners, etc. I save them for folks who like, need, will use them.
Are you in need of a specific type bag?

I may start using these slim F&G style bags in my convertibles. I know there was a time when genuine meant something. In some cases, the generic is even better than the genuine. To put this all in perspective it’s a freaking dust bag!!!! That holds dirt.

Most of the generic bags today are most likely better than the paper thin bags from 60s, 70s and 80s.

I actually saw them taking the green bags

out of their original packages and put them into the new ones. Not sure why they'd waste that time and plastic bags, but...................

What a great idea. Those Eureka A bags will fit well into the bottom fill Hoover convertibles. They also can be used very well in an Air-Way upright (the ones from the 1920's and 1930's).

I like them too

I recently got the mint green and chrome 2 speed model on eBay. I'm going through it slowly and cleaning/polishing everything up.

That one is one of my favorites as well as the white/gray with the 2 speed electronic power nozzle.

Also I really like the very basic ones with no wheels that float. I'll probably get on eventually.

Anyone know when the Celebrity was discontinued? I'm thinking mid-80s from ads I saw. I think mine is one of the last ones. I saw a date on the power nozzle motor but couldn't make out the year, looked like 83 or 85 possibly.

I agree on newer bags sometimes being better too. I feel like whatever bags were used in mine must have leaked. The bag compartment was clean, but when I took the plastic covers off that cover the motor and power nozzle port, everything under those was just coated in fine dust.

It also has that sleeve filter over the motor intake, but somebody has made a replacement at some point.

Still, I'm surprised how much dust had gotten into the motor area, concerning.

Yes, I definitely plan on it, want to finish cleaning it first. Plus I'm waiting on some new parts to arrive I have on order. (Hoping they actually are available still and not just get a refund and no parts!)

I'm known to stuff a full sized F&G HEPA bag into a C bag convertible.
