But here it is. I recently received an email in my second(now closed) email, from a cprice8302005(etc, don't wanna give it all away). He said he was a member of Vacuumland in Ky, and was getting out of the business. I would normally be all over this, but the email was quite weirdly put together, with Vacuumland being a link, no username mentioned, no mention of it here, no caps, etc. I am not sure, but it seemed like a scam. I did not click the link for that reason. I have never had previous contact with this person, and it just seemed weird. If it is not a scam, please speak up. Just thought I should let y'all know.

And he didn’t give his VacuumLand user name?

If he won’t give you his username then you can’t verify the legitimacy of this. If it’s fake, it could be indicative of a security issue that you already have and might be unaware of. These things can happen after someone knows enough about your viewing history to know that Vacuum Land is part of it. Tread lightly until you know for sure!

Correct. There has been a few instances in the past, people that make their email address public on this website get scam emails in their inbox from fake users. There has also been bot accounts that join here and post fake posts about some weird new vacuum with phishing links.

The reason for this is this site is old and based on old web hardware and it is just the kind of website that scammers like. The low-level scammers that use email address skimmers to scam people (i.e. the Nigerian prince email scams).

The bots use human learning to skim eMails, words, and phrases to make them seem legitimate, but they can still mess up. Look for weird capitalization errors, or punctuation mistakes. Also check the age of the user's account. If it was made recently, it's likely a bot.

The only person on here that I can think of that is going out of business from Kentucky (or was it Tennessee?) is Jimmy Martin (rugsucker).

Also as far as I am aware there is no "Vacuumland" as a business, Vacuumland is the name of this site.

I removed it from my computer(not sure how to delete, but it may as well be) I can't access it, send or receive, or do anything with it now. The one in my profile now is still good, I need one for buying and selling here. The link was Vacuumland.org, but clickable.

Interesting. Hover over the link without clicking it and look at the info bar in your browser and make sure it actually goes to Vacuumland, and analyze the sender's address too.

He emailed me as well. I actually answered him back and ended up talking to him on the phone for about half an hour. He had a small business fixing vacs up and selling them in a peddlers mall. They started raising their prices/fees on him and he pulled his machines out and quit fooling with them. He’s now looking to unload most if not of his inventory. He made me what I feel is a fair offer for most of it. It’s older Electrolux, Hoover, Fantom, Shark, Dyson, parts, Howe’s, bags, filters, etc. I’m just trying to figure out if I’m going to get an opportunity to go see the collection anytime soon as he’s looking to unload it ASAP. If anyone else is close to Campbellsville and is interested, I’d be more than happy to share his number with you and let you speak to him. Just let me know..

Can't

Because I removed that email account, with the thing in it just in case. I just ran a malware check through my chromebook, nothing breached. All the details he could've gotten are right there in my profile. Ky(no city), vacuum collector, and email.

Yes, he told me that he had found my information on VL....I don’t really mind, but truthfully I had forgotten about putting my email info out there it’s been so many years! Guess I better check out my own profile occasionally! LOL!!

Oh wow, did not expect that! I will send an email to him through my working account, I just wasn't sure if I was going to get infected with malware, etc. You can never be too careful lol, thanks!
