I've had these both for a while and just now getting around to posting about them. Haven't taken pics of either one yet. First one is a Hoover Decade 80 that was sitting at the curb about 2 blocks away where the people were moving out. I had passed it a couple times, then Lena saw it and brought it home. Runs pretty good, just needs a belt, bulb, and a good cleaning.
Then last November, my step-daughter's boyfriend found a Kirby Heritage II in a dumpster and brought it to me. Runs great but the brush roll seemed to be seized up, so we had to free it up, and had to put the nozzle guard back in place. At this point it just needs a good cleaning and a new belt and it should be ready for use. It's now the newest Kirby in my collection! Jeff |

It may be a while before I can take pics. Right now I have the time, but my foot needs to heal more before I'll be able to do the arranging & etc. for taking the pics.
Les, you are right, and that's what I said in my post, the Heritage II IS my newest Kirby. Hose just arrived for it today, and have some attachments coming later this week. Jeff |

Jeff,
I found a nearly trashed 1984 Heritage II myself in November 2018, which I have since rescued it from. ~Ben |

I have had a few trash finds but never trash keepers. I reply: Yes, worthwhile trash finds are few and far between but I've had some good ones. I used to see a fair number of machines out by the dumpster when I lived in an apartment complex but most weren't worth saving. I grabbed a couple of Dirt Devils, which I fixed up and re-homed, and then there was the Kirby GSix that sent me down the enthusiast rabbit hole. Not sure whether that was a blessing or a curse. More recently there was the Electrolux Discovery II that was in near perfect condition and is probably my most frequently used machine. Most recently was last spring's rescue of an Electrolux Diplomat LE that needed a cord winder. All three are keepers. |

Could you exolain this phrase.
Edgar you have a nice track record. I recently sort of got a trash find. My wife grew up in a house. I know the house is currently owned by her brother in law. He had a trailer of donation items. I found a heritage 84. I picked it up quickly. It was my wife's mothers vacuum and was bought new. It's a heritage 84 turbo. It has no attachments but a brand new brush roll. I tore it down and clean and serviced it. I sanded and polished it too. I used my buffer to polish. I will do it with mothers mag. It's got three flaws. It has the grey fan. I have an amodel fan but not readily available. The second is the screw holding the switch on the motor housing is detached/broke off switch. The plastic handle cover busted one of tabs for the cord. The bag reads Genuine Kirby 84. The other side Scott Fetzer 81. |
