I'm not a huge poster here, but I wanted to post about my recent Triflex purchase to give my thoughts on it and maybe answer some questions from anyone thinking about buying it.

I'll start by setting the scene, I have a small 1200 sq ft house with all hardwood floors and 3 area rugs and a hallway runner. I have three sheddy dogs, and two cats. I'm not a neat freak, but I can't stand dog hair one the floor. I have a Miele S8 homecare that I love, I use it at least every other day since I bought it 7 years ago. But sometimes it's a chore to drag the vacuum around the house, and have to use several different outlets to vacuum the house. I've wanted to have a cordless stick vac for a long time, ever since I worked in a store that sold the first generation Dyson units. I tried a hoover cordless a few years ago and it was pretty awful, after three uses, the filter clogged and it was a pain to take apart, so I returned it. Then I found out that Miele was making their own version.

I bought the cat and dog model Triflex because I wanted the Hepa filter and the powered upholstery tool (why doesn't Miele make this for their full size vacs?) It was a lot of money for a cordless vacuum, much more than most people pay for their full size vac, so I had high expectations for it. After unboxing, assembling, and charging, I used it to clean my house, and I can officially say that I am impressed. It cleans my floors and rugs as good as the S8 Miele. The downfall being the size of the dust bin and the battery run time. I can vacuum my whole house on one charge, but barely, and I have to empty the dust bin in the middle of vacuuming, dog hair really fills it up.

I haven't decided what configuration I prefer to keep it in, the power head at the bottom configuration is nice because it will stand up on it's own, and the power head at the top allows for easier attachment changes. Overall, I am very happy with it, I can quickly vacuum the whole house easily in the morning before I leave for work. I anticipate only needing to bring out the S8 for deep cleaning or for doing the blinds, moulding, etc..

A slightly different opinion on the Triflex

I have the Triflex also and i feel so so about it but I would say you are more of the target audience for the Triflex than I am. I have just about all carpets except bathrooms and kitchen. For me the Triflex is useful in certain situations but in others a PITA.

I love that it can stand on its own and in bottom mount configuration, it is the most quiet stick vac I have and heard with generally good build quality. I do find the small bin, the filter system and mediocre suction a little troubling for a $699 vacuum. The emptying process just stinks and is the worst I have seen and the fact that you have to do it so often makes that even worse. I just have to say for the price they are charging to have some disappointment with Miele on this. In some ways its just an ergonomic nightmare without the performance that other $699 vacs have. Still deciding whether to keep it or not.
