I got an email about the new Shark Vertex line of vacuums being released in the next few months. The biggest difference is the “brush” roll now has silicone blades versus typical brushes. Wanted to share this with my fellow vacuum enthusiasts :)

Cool designs, but bagless designs.

Does anyone know if these new "powerfins" touch the surface of bare floors? I would be afraid to use these new agitators on bare floors for fear of marring the finish. And I wonder if they make a racket as they hit the floors. I'm skeptical.....unless you can turn off the powerfin roll for use on bare floors?

suggested that our 90 yr old aunt invest in a nice, light SHARK!.... to replace her 22 yr old, perfectly operating
Hoover Elite. Her response was, "I don't think Johnny would be too happy".
hmmmmmm

Powerfins

Yes the Powerfins do make direct contact with the floor. I’m sure they slow way down as other Sharks do in bare floor mode.

The vacuum looks interesting. It's funny every shark thread seems to have very similar replies.
I wish shark would make a machine like the crosswave. I know they have a mop vac but that's no crosswave. There first floor steam cleaner was horrible plain and simple.

I like the idea of the crosswave. That I wouldn't mind taking out for a test drive.

on keeping machines bagless.......it would be cool if they would make the same model vacuum take bags or be bagless. This way, people who don't want bagless or bagged could get the same vacuum and be happy. I'd buy the bags and never go bagless.

It will be interesting to see how the silicone blades work out.

There are carpet sweepers with the same type of roller. Never have used one to really see how well it works on a push carpet sweeper.

There may be some advantages to it. However is it really worth it?

Watch for those infomercials. And best of all time will tell.

No

Base your company as its own entity. You may lose the company but no personal assets.
You can be cool if you want.
I think sharks design with filter placement eluding work as a bag system.

Those "Powerfins" look like they would do nothing to the carpet. Seriously, Shark?

Hmm

You do realize the post 2000 royal vacuums have the exact same type of bristle stiffeners on their brush roll. I had a 10 amp 1030z and have a model 4000 10.5 amp motor.
The shark has an 11.4 amp motor with the same material that made the commercial royals agitate so we'll.
Im not saying a shark will out perform a royal but maybe don't judge when your I'll informed.

Take another look. The power fins aren't a stiffener, they're a silicone "flap" that replaces bristles entirely. Also keep in mind we're talking a clean air design which is going to have like 1/2 the airflow at the head.

I know there not stiffeners. The royal and shark regular brush roll let's say are same quality bristles. Royals are built into the brush roll. The shark is another brush roll entirely.
They both help agitation in different ways. The shark is 11.4 amp. I have seen 100 plus cfm from a 10 amp shark.
My point it's a different method of agitation. The shark has a hose easily accessible.
The shark vacuum is going to be a good vacuum. Im trying to have people get past the stereotype.
I still want a shark version of a crosswave to come out.
