Does anyone else think Hoover's Windtunnel Twin Chamber and Dirt Devil's Reaction D2 looked a little similar?

Thankfully,

gottahaveahoove's profile picture
not those 2. But, I see Royals/Hoovers interchanged, re-badged. It really is kind of like Mr. Potato Head.

I'd say that Royal and Kirby

are the closest, even in operation, construction, tools, etc.
I didn't even think of that. But, you're right.

It was Bison.....like what roamed the plains, part of the bovine family.

Thank you, Charlie. I KNEW i hadn't spelled it right

It doesn't really interest me, although, I've seen perfect specimens at Phillip Muller's home, when we were guests there.
I knew someone would correct me.
Many thanks.

Yeah, Bison was a Kirby knockoff back in the day.

Maybe I was giving the spelling a flair

an affectation... dress up the thing a little.
I'm told they weren't/aren't very sturdy. A shame.

Not very sturdy, not a particularly good cleaner, awkward at best and deafeningly loud!

I had a NOS one, (still in the box), about 15 years ago and parted with it shortly thereafter. Looking like a Kirby is where the comparison should stop!

I've used Kirbys

I agree, or concur, if you like to build a vocabulary. I always did that with my elementary students. Knowledge is power.
\ Kirbys even look stronger, unplugged.

I'd guess there are many machines that look similar to each other, given how when one manufacturer comes out with a style of vacuum - others follow the trends to compete. Sometimes the original is best, sometimes others improve on it. This is not just newer machines, it goes back to the early days of vacuums of course.
