Now that I’ve got your attention... So, as the story goes, I was going online to search for late 70’s muscle cars on Craigslist. Except, when I put Craigslist into my phones search bar, it automatically goes to search for “Hoover” (can’t imagine why that would happen being a vacuum collector). Well before I could search anything else an almost blinding beacon of color captured my gaze and pulled me in. So, at 4:00 AM mind you, I sent the gentleman an email. Astonishingly enough, he responded immediately and we made the deal. NOW, I ended up going to get it last night on my way home from work and it’s honestly better than I could’ve ever believed. As far as impossible to find, it has to be the top when it comes to Hoover Concepts.

Could it be a rare private label?

opelgtkarl's profile picture
Now that would be a good guess, but unfortunately not. I also have these two JCP labeled Concepts.

Could it be something in breath taking green or blue?

opelgtkarl's profile picture
Nope! But I do love those colors!

Could it be something in beautiful colors of the fall?

Now we’re getting there!

Alright! Enough guessing!

What I have found is this beautiful and for the most part, unused 1982 Hoover Commercial Concept Model U7097! I know that it has a few scuffs here and there and I usually try to remove them before taking pictures, but I had to post it as soon as I could. This particular example is practically new. The brushroll still has its factory paint on it, the cord looks brand new, the dump bag inside is still in the bag, and the bag holds most of its original factory pressing. As this is a commercial machine, they usually saw a lot of abuse and thus went into the trash. Especially like this Concept, which is largely made of plastic. It appears as though it may have only seen light work in a household. Either way, enjoy!!

Nice find.

Been in the commercial cleaning game since 1987. First time I ever saw a commercial concept. We even had a Hoover store here in our area and never saw one in the store or any literature about them.

What years were they produced and sold???

We used the Hoover Conquests and Industrial uprights.

What a bright orange, it looks like a road cone!

I have a Concept One I got at Goodwill that barely survived household use, I can't imagine these lasted long at all commercially.

Judging by the wheel wear it was barely used maybe even for a month.

WOWWWWWWW

Jeff Parker was the only person I knew of that owned one of these. Congrats on the find. From what he said, it has a beefier motor. Does it still use a regular brushroll or something different?

That's a terrific looking Hoover Concept styled Commercial vac. It's amazing at this age to find it in such great condition.

Congratulations, I'm sure you will love it.

Thank you all for the kind words! In the past I have not been the biggest fan of the Hoover Concept, but nowadays, I have a much better appreciation for them. I now have a few Concepts in my collection (all pictured in this post now). I will definitely appreciate this machine with the rest of my vintage Hoover commercial machines.

They were not bad vacuums at all. I know a few people that had the concept vacuums.
