Several have had it done, with glorious results. I believe there are 2 prices: a lower one if you are the original owner with documents, etc, and another for a different owner.
A few yrs ago, The V.C.C.C. sent one for a rebuild. It was raffled off. The only issue I ever heard of was that some of the replaced parts are not original colors. But, I've seen them. They look and operate perfectly. Others in here will know far more about it. But, they loved the results. |

If you are the original owner and have the paperwork to show that, it should have a rebuild price on it or the Kirby rebuild department can provide it to you.
If you are not the original owner the rebuild price is $350.00 not including tax and shipping. Also, Kirby does not pay the shipping from your home to their rebuild facility. |

The Diamond Edition (left in picture) was rebuilt at the Factory in May, 2016. It's gorgeous. I got this wonderful machine from AirWay Charlie. He and I are former Presidents of the V.C.C.C. He shared this one with me. He now has a lovely Kenmore Bug Eye upright that is also just as gorgeous. Thanks again Charlie. Love you!

Hey Tom,
Hugs back at ya! I just sent a Kirby Classic in for a rebuild. They called me as I did not send the bag and a few other pieces. I want to keep it original so I sent the nozzle bumper trim, NOS, that I found on ebay. They said they still have the correct trim color! They were going to replace the wheels with Omega wheels and I asked that they leave the original on. I found NOS wheels, (front and rear), on ebay as well. It has a great original bag. I also found a NOS power cord on ebay too. When I talked with the Kirby rep I said I basically wanted the motor rebuilt and a good buff out. I'll take care of the rest! I let him know I was a collector and he was happy to help out. I'll have one smokin' Classic when it is all completed to go with it's sister, the Omega. I'm glad the Diamond Edition is in the museum and the Kenmore Bugeye seems to be very happy in North Carolina. |
