Hello.I am desperately looking for repair info for my husband's carpet cleaner. He bought it in the late 80's/early nineties I believe. He hasn't been in the cleaning business for years, but has used it a few times a year for cleaning friend's & family's carpets. He used to be meticulous about cleaning and taking care of it, but it's been sitting for a few years, and does not work. He doesn't have time to deal with it, and I have been known to do minor repairs on small appliances with success. If I could find a manual, or talk to someone who knows this machine, I could at least trouble shoot to see if it's something minor. If it's something more involved, I can then decide where to go from there. I would like to be able to clean all the filters All, etc. All I can find searching online is info on the newer models, especially the rental machines. I sure could use some leads on where to find cleaning &/or repair info. Thank you very much!(PS. Pic was found online. Ours is buried at the moment)

You say it doesn't work. However didn't describe what isn't working.

Is the machine not applying solution? If not check to make sure the jets on the carpet tool aren't clogged. Over time the detergent will crystallize and clog the jets and or filter screen in the clean water tank and or supply lines.

Recommended maintenance for carpet extractors is to run a strong vinegar solution thru the system to clean out the detergent residue on a regular basis.

No scrubbing action from the brush?

No suction from the vacuum? Could be a rusted out vacuum motor if the motor runs.
Or the float ball stuck in the full waste water tank position thus cutting off the suction.

Yeah, the reality is that if you want this fixed....you need to give a LOT more information. If you don't have the wherewithal to analyze the problem, I'm not sure what you expect to happen here.

Maybe you can get a forum member to come look at it......
