So today I worked on getting my Bissell Plus Lift Off from 1995 cleaned up. It actually went pretty smoothly. Dismantled the parts, took them outside and sprayed them with Mean Green. At that point the dust and grime basically rinsed off! Then I set the parts in the sun to dry which only took a few minutes.
So the base is entirely cleaned and back together. Unfortunately it's scratched up quite a bit, and I wasn't able to get all of the scuffs out. The rest is in better shape and I got it all wiped down as well. So it's mostly done. I still need to figure out what to use to replace the pre-motor filter. It's made of green foam but kind of ripped apart. I think I bought some new Febreeze bags for it awhile ago but I don't know where I put them. Anyway, at least it's done for now. Considering I bought it in 2012, it took 8 years for it to get done! One thing I found interesting is there are actually two headlight bulbs, not just one. Never seen that before, and the headlight lens is very small, it's not like it's a long lens or anything. Now the only machine I have left to restore is my Electrolux. That's kind of a nice feeling, although it was a lot easier since I got rid of a few machines I wasn't interested in fixing up. |
