Some of you may recall me making a post several weeks ago looking for an Electrolux Hospital G vacuum your add to my collection. Not too unexpectedly, that was a complete bust. There were a few suggestions as to where I might find one, but nothing solid, and it never came to fruition. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t slightly disappointed/bummed about that; but I have come to learn that everything happens for a reason; and this situation is no different.

Anyone who knows me, knows that I consider the Electrolux Commemorative Edition UltraLux THE Holy Grail of vacuum cleaners for an Electrolux collector. When I purchased my first one, I had no clue what they were, or how rare they were.....that soon changed, and when Tom Gasko offered me his pristine, unused/unawarded CE, I felt like lightning had struck twice. That was several years ago. Now, after I realized how rare they were, I set up an eBay search parameter for that specific machine (approx 8 years ago). Through the years, it’s popped off a few false positives, but no machines. A little over two weeks ago, I got a notification from it, and thinking it another false positive, I almost dismissed it.....thankfully I didn’t, and there in all it’s glory was a lovely, Electrolux Commemorative Edition! It wasn’t priced too bad (all things considered), and even had an option to make an offer for it. My hands were shaking as I made my offer for the machine. I waited for what seemed like an eternity (in reality, more like a day and a half) for the seller to respond.....when they responded, I nearly fainted.....they accepted my offer as long I didn’t care to wait until they returned from a trip; which obviously I didn’t mind at all. Today I finalized the deal and lightning has struck THRICE! I now own my third Electrolux CE!!!! I am BEYOND stoked!!!!

So, while I didn’t get a Hospital G as I wanted, I ended up with something even more rare as far as I’m concerned!!

What's the line from that old Rolling Stones song? You can't always get what you want but if you try, sometimes you just might find you get what you need.

I've never actually seen one of these in the flesh but I think they're absolutely the most beautiful Electrolux canisters out there. How incredible that you've owned three of them.

Such a gorgeous machine. When I was President of the VCCC, I got the entire club into the Electrolux factory (I made friends with the President of Lux). They served us lunch, and each one of us brought our favorite Lux to display in the lunch room for all the employees.

I was lucky enough to tour the factory with the big wigs. When I saw the display of vintage Lux machines that included the Commemorative Edition, I almost fainted. I had never seen that one before.

I literally begged them to let me know if any salesman still had one - always thinking about the VCCC. To my (and the VCCC's) surprise, they presented me with one at the end of the tour of the factory. There were still several in inventory at the factory. I have no idea what happened to it after I left the VCCC but it was still in the hands of someone in that club.

I have pictures of the club and myself during the 'unboxing'. It really is a stunning machine.

@human

Yes, You Can't Always Get What You Want is one of their finest songs. Love that album-Let it Bleed.

To tell you the truth, that vacuum looks nearly as modern as many vacs today.

That crinkled metal might actually be better than polished stainless as it might not be as likely to dent so easily.

And I also think they should go back to the top ventilation so you can always have the blower and also return to the metal grate over the post-motor filter (which should of course be sealed HEPA).

Love the hose

While I was never a fan of the general coloring of these, the hose is indeed very nice. I know they were rare and only a limited amount made and it’s nice to know you enjoy collecting them. Did it not come with the power nozzle?
