What were the story behind these? I have heard mixed things about these. I have no interest in going after one but I was curious what the general consensus on them was. My aunt had one in the 90s and she hated it. Her Hoover Elite was much better but I already figured that.

It was basically like a hard body classic with a soft bag. In the back there was a manual diverter for the hose that you would turn when you wanted to use it in hose mode or floor mode. They were a decent cleaner, loud but powerful. They also weighed a little more than the “lite” models. I have 2 of them.

I'm guessing it was to compete with the Hoover Elite, Eureka Bravo, and Bissell/Singer Poweramp style machines?

I remember seeing a post a while back where you said as a kid you had the LITE plus and it almost caught fire. How did that happen? That wasn't this machine right? I do get a little weary of the older Dirt Devil's fragility.

No it wasn’t. It was the “featherlite” lite plus model. Knowing what I know now it was most likely something stuck behind the fan.

Oh ok

I know which one you're talking about now, I always get the pluses confused. These were more so similar to the later hard body featherlites that popped up around 2000-2001.
