I have a wonderful elite 200 but when I turn it on it has a burning smell, with and without the belt. Could it need a new motor or new carbon brushes?

Brushes I would say. Maybe bearings are dry. Open it and find out.

Grease on bottom bearings or fan. Checking would narrow it down.
