Here's a G.E. Roll Around Model C4 that I got from Fred Nelson.

I used to have a C3 that was swindled from me by a crook who found me online. But that's a very old story now; I no longer have any regrets about that -- especially since I now have this lovely specimen!

My maternal grandmother had a C4 that was strictly hands-off to me. I thought she was kinda mean about it at the time. I'd gladly have vacuumed her entire house with it when we visited! "Her loss."

I'd forgotten what good suction this vacuum cleaner has. It's much more powerful than the Lewyt 77 that I just gave a spa treatment to.

My G.E. is missing the straight wand. I hope I can find one, and maybe the instruction booklet for it.

See the link below for a short video.

Yay! We find out the name of the designer who chose the colours for this GE cleaner: Freda Diamond!

I love it when we get the name of a real person who helped create a vacuum’s design! Wish I knew some names from the Eureka Williams company....

Here’s a webpage with Freda’s biography:

Just beautiful. That's the second version. The first had a polished aluminum 'swivel'. I'm sure I have a spare straight wand in my boxes of spare wands. The instruction 'book' was a long piece of cardboard printed front and back and folded in half. Congrats on such a lovely specimen.

It’s a beautiful specimen. The brown bumper and hose are complements of our lovely Tania (Airway Lady).  When she came to visit me in Chicago at Tarantula Arms I never heard the end of the fact that it was missing the bumper and the original hose.  So, God love her, she made the machine whole again.  I picked up this machine  here in Palm Desert at a vacuum/sewing shop years ago when they still valued quality and refurbished and resold good old vacuums that came in on trade.  The shop is still there but they only sell new machines and are now big into Bernina sewing machines where I got my B770 and get my sewing  machines serviced.

Charles helped me empty out my storage unit and took away quite a haul.  I needed to get rid of machines after downsizing to Palm Springs.  This is a problem for us collectors who need to downsize.  Didn’t want to go through the hassle of EBay (have had my share of bad experiences) and didn’t want to toss them so I was so happy to see these machines go to good homes. And indeed, they did.  Glad to see them go to someone who appreciates them and solved my problem at the same time.

In the move I was amazed how little got lost but that dang straight wand was one of them. Charles and I went through all the boxes multiple times and never could find it.  The movers packed everything up in a whirlwind.  If Tom doesn’t have the wand, Tania thinks she does.  My experience is that this is a great group of people who help each other.

I found the aluminum straight wand for you. I keep things like that for friends who are collectors. If you send me a Private Message with your address, I'll mail it to you.

Thanks, Tom. However, your name isn't the Vacuumland private messenger list. I'll send you an email.

This GE is a great machine

My friend's dad taped a note telling the family that "this goes to Billy" before he went to the hospital for the last time. So I have the same machine, love the colors. The family lost all the attachments and threw out the hose because of it's condition, they didn't know I could use the ends for a new hose to be made. So a long road ahead to restore this wonderful machine. It will be worth the effort. I remember the glasses too! My grandpa built a tiki bar out back and at a family get together I saddled up to the bar, only 10 years old, and ordered a "Buck Rodgers". Grandpa pours me a 7-up and cherry juice and I start to get down from the bar stool but my legs were too short and I fell to the cement patio smashing the glass and cutting my arm. Grandpa caught heat for serving me in glass outside,, so yes I remember those tumblers quite well! Enjoyed reading Freda's biography!
