If you're talking about the motor housing shell (the plastic shell around the motor) that directs the air from the basin up to the fans. It should just slide off without any damage. The air that flows thru the shell helps to cool the motor by flowing over the fins on the outside of the motor.
If you leave it off the fans are just going to suck the air that is in the motor chamber without pulling the air up from the basin, so basically you Rainbow will stop sucking up dirt. Also because the air isn't flowing around the motor it will most likely overheat. |
