Just a thread Im starting and may develop over time of the photos i've taken at the thrift store, to see what y'all think of their selections. These two photo however are from several months ago, but I figured i'd still share. There's a vintage Kenmore canister that was in the corner on the second trip.

Ooh, in the left I see a convertible and a cool looking Eureka Victory in the corner. In the right one,the Premier Swivel top hidden behind the Kenmore. You could probably get some money from the Convertible and Swivel top, depending on prices. Better than the Goodwills here!

I see two Hoover canisters of interest.

Thanks for posting.

Everytime I go to thrift store I forget to take in my camera. I've got to start doing that.

The selection at Island Thrift are 1000x better than the Goodwills here as well! I've seen so many 80s and 90s vacs that have caught my interest here (i.e. Hoover Dimension TurboPower with DirtFinder). Thanks for letting me know also that was a Swivel Top and not a Kenmore. The much more vintage ones im not as familiar with.

That's my heaven! I barely even see 1 vac at my local Goodwill.

That red Dyson Ball is one you need to get. That was a limited edition model painted special for Target and only sold for 1 year.

I almost completely forgot about that model Eureka Victory. We sold it way back in the late 90’s when I was still in high school. It will become a rarity quickly- the Christian Klingspore edition. We didn’t know who the hell he was then and he’s fairly unheard of now.

The first pic the 2 cannisters are good. There is a 80's Hoover and top right is a simplicity. The simplicity you could buy and resale for a profit.
2nd pic. The Dyson if cheap enough could make a profit. The vacuum with the dark purple base looks good. The Hoover in the back is good.
3rd pic. The electrolux oxygen is good, mighty mite is good, the shark navigator is good and easy sell. The top left is a lightweight vacuum. If it's anything but an orreck would be a nice buy.

Lots of nice selection here. Our goodwills tend to be picked over so most of the time what they have is cruddy used vacs that were $50 or under to begin with. Rarely do I find an Electrolux, but in the last year I’ve found 2 Aerus’s and 1 Electrolux Olympia. The Olympia was in rough shape, with a taped up generic hose at both ends and the power nozzle was beat to hell and nothing else was included. The Aerus machines were both in great shape, one was barely used with all the attachments included and a flip over rug and floor tool and 47 bags so those had no choice but to come home with me! I figured I got about $850 in resellable vacuums and bags for a total of $54 including tax. But I’ve given the Aerus Lux Classic to my Brother for Christmas and decided to treat myself by keeping the barely used complete set Aerus Lux Legacy for some day when and if my beloved Electrolux Silverado ever bites the dust!

It’s funny when you see one of those canister steamers stuck in the crowd of vacuums...often I start to say...well what kind of vacuum is that? Then realize it’s a steamer with some disappointment!

I often get annoyed when things with parts are donated but either the donor nor the donation center take the time to package the parts in a sealed bag and tape it to the main machine.

My Mother had a Regina floor and carpet scrubber and polisher she wanted to me as she never used it in recent years and it had a lot of different pads and accessory brushes for different types of scrubbing, shampooing, polishing, or burnishing, so I carefully packaged up all of them and taped the heck out of the bag to the handle so the only way it was going to be opened and removed was with scissors by a buyer, and I put a big note inside the clear bag that said “parts in bag are part of the machine” to clear up any wondering by someone who may not know what it all processing the donations.

I did go to a mission thrift store we have here several times and the first trip time they had a nice selection of good used vacuums, so I continued going but much to my disappointment, they’ve never had quite the selection I saw on that first visit to the store.

I did see a nice Shark Navigator at Goodwill over this past winter. Rare to see those.

Hey, there’s a yellow hula hoop in the third picture! Ha!
Jon

The last Electrolux I saw at a thrift shop around here was my Genesis LXe upright that I bought for $8 about three years ago. That particular store closed about a month late and that turned out to be my final purchase there. Mostly what I see at thrifts around here are plasticrap vacs I wouldn't take a second look at if they were free on the curb.

I'd buy a lot of those! The kenmore upright, victory, hoover, dyson red, mini eureka whirlwind, eureka ultra, and whatever oreck that is. I've been wanting an oreck xl legend.

Hey RegularRett69, what's the story on that Kirby in your profile photo? Is that something you did yourself?

Thrift shops were allowed to reopen sometime last month but I have yet to darken the door of one. Just feeling the need to take a break from my acquisition addiction and enjoy what I've got.

Look at my most recent thread titled "update and question answer". Also, wish I had a z700!

Thanks! And yeah it was just dumb luck I found one cheap - but sad story about it. Seller tried to do good by washing it, but he lost the plug for the back, and then the handle smashed in shipping. I need to spend an hour with some Gorilla Glue and carefully put it all back together.

My original thread about it is here: www.vacuumland.org/cgi-bi...

I got a Z400 now too last month so it has a friend :)

I'm with you. I have been to Goodwill a couple of times and another thrift store a couple of times. But I haven't bought anything. I feel the same way you do, enjoy what I have instead of getting more. I don't need anymore stuff myself anyway.

Another Trip

Nothing really of interest this time except for an old red and white Craftsman shop vac, a Bissell carpet cleaner (PRIOR to the Big Green) and a Hoover SteamVac Spot.
