Very nice Keith but I'm disappointed. Your Celebrity is missing the curved upper wand. The hose should not be going into a straight wand :-)

Beautiful Hoovers, Keith! The colours are subtle and very refined....quite elegant and seem appropriate for an elegant home with nice furnishings.

It's a testament to your good taste.

Good taste indeed.

Those are beautiful !  I like the almond/rust combination.  I like just about all the two tone color combinations Hoover was doing in the later 70s and into the 80s.

Yes, the wand was screaming for replacement as the hose looks painfully bent but we know you are displaying these and showing us these wonderful machines.  You'll find the correct chrome wand.

I still like the Quadraflex.  So well designed.  I like the sound of it too, I don't know what it is about the sound.

I used to have 6 of those.  A gray Dimension, (2) mint green, an almond like yours, a slate green, and rust colored one.   I preferred using them over my electrolux "L" nozzle.  But they were all good.

To find both a Celebrity and a matching upright AND both in good condition.  You have a good eye.

Quadraflex nozzle

tufflex hose, stellar. That was Hoover at it's best.
Imagine making Convertible with Quad , Windtunnel, LED light, Hepa filter...............THAT would be something. There's NO WAY TTi would ever do that.
EVERYTHING on the website is "Onepower'. They want NOTHING to do with their rich, successful past. just the red logo.(it seems)

Just giving you a hard time Keith. I know you are so particular about your vacs so when you displayed the Celebrity not totally in 'correct' form, I just had to rib you a little :-)

You never disappoint!
That's a beautiful Celebrity.
I'm guessing that's probably one of the best versions of the Celebrity.
I've always been partial to the slightly older, simpler version, with the round cord reel on the top.
The sort of mustard gold color, or maybe an avocado green.
If you have one like that, it would be great to see it!

Quick question: where is the exhaust on this later model of Celebrity? Is it blown through vents on the bottom of the canister?

Hoovers. Hoover+s= plural. As we know, Hoover's denotes possession/ownership. Don't you hate when people use apostrophes for plural? It's like saying, "I bought DVD'S. DVD'S what? DVDs plural.
But...
Your Hoovers are beautiful. And, your Hoovers' owner is a great guy. (plural possessive. Sorry, grammar nazi here.
I must change some bags in my Hoovers.

Prince

It's not quite clear.  Here is a link for a base for sale.

The older model blue one apparently has holes but the newer rust colored one....?

I see they got wise and put some upward directed side louvers.

Anything that's exhausting air onto the floor where it can blow dust around is a terrible design.  That's one of the reasons this vacuum is such a bad design, imo.

....but I love the late 70s and 80s Hoover colors, so.   Hoover love.

Interesting! Indeed - I much prefer an upward exhaust like those on Miele canisters. As much as I loved my Eureka Mighty Mite, the powerful exhaust used to blast surface litter all over the place before I had a chance to clean it up!

These upward vents on the brown Celebrity are a big improvement, though any litter falling into them could be blown out the next time it’s turned on. Unless there was some exhaust filter designed to cover the holes.

Very sharp & undeniably '80s, Keith! Don't know the official color names but spice tones were in vogue in homes during the early to mid part of the decade while rocks & minerals influenced home decor color trends in the latter years.

I like color matched or complemented sets, as well.

I had a Hoover Convertible nearly the same...it belonged to the next door neighbors of my parents. Their house was always immaculate. She decided to get a new Vacuum, a Hoover Innovation when the new design plastic Hoover’s first came out. Anyway, they had nearly placed it by itself in a trash can with no lid on it next to the other trash can on the curb which was on the property line between our house and theirs. I mentioned they were throwing it away to my Mom and she said...I”lol call them and see if there’s anything wrong with it and she did...I was in college at the time but was on summer break at home and wanted to take it with me for my dorm room the next year. They said it was fine and she just wanted a new vacuum so they would be pleased if I could get some use out of it. I used it for those last few years and then disassembled it and stored it, when I got a job that took me out of state and moved out, I took it and had it at my first apartment, it lasted about a year and then began making a loud roaring while running that would gradually get worse...couldn’t figure out what it was, but at one point for some reason I touched the front side of the base and it was burning hot, on both sides. Found out that the roller brush bearings were going bad and went searching to vacuum stores for them and they all wanted $39 back in 1994 for a replacement...at the third vacuum store I went to in search of a cheaper price, the guy told me I won’t getter a better price anywhere as the price is fixed for that part. I didn’t see the point in putting $39 plus tax into a vacuum that I wasn’t crazy about and obviously had wear on it considering I could likely get a new one similar for $59 or so. I had the attachment set, but always felt they sucked poorly. I ended up trading it in at this last vacuum store for a used Electrolux Silverado which is still my daily driver to this day.

These neighbors also had a Hoover Celebrity some years before, it was light blue and did not have a power nozzle....I guess they felt the need for the canister and an upright to serve their cleaning needs. Growing up, I would occasionally see the celebrity and my Brother and I thought it was a weird UFO shaped vacuum! We were so used to Mom’s Electrolux Model L we had.

Jon
