when i put the screws in the plate it wants to make the motor hard to spin. what am i missing ? HELP !

What model Kirby is this? Make sure the bearing spins freely by hand and that it not crooked in the plate. I'm assuming you replaced just the bearing and not the plate assembly. How did you install it? Take a picture of the bearing in the plate.

Do you have the thrust washer in the right way?
Are the bearings facing the right way?
Is the front bearing cocked and not seated correctly?
