Can anyone tell me what year this General Electric upright vacuum model # AVF 18 is? Or anything about it? It was my grandmothers, it still works. Thank you.

Hi Judy,

I can't help you, wish I could but I bet you'll have an answer before sundown today! You did a great job with color matching your vacuum and the entryway carpet, it's uncanny. If it weren't for the white back drop it would be hard to to even see your vacuum, lol! Just having fun. Nice looking machine I hope you keep and enjoy it.

I know some people will have exact info. I want to say 1948 but 1948-1953 is likely the years produced.
Kenmore, GE and premier made similar models around this time. I mean like Chevy/gm/Cadillac similar. This vacuum something unique about the brush roll and it's design is similar to 1979 Kirby tradition. I believe it's first rotating brush roll and it is pretty powerful.
I do like the vacuum very classy look.
Idk this popped in my head. Vacuums resemble car body styles. This vacuum resembles just after WW2 car styling. If I'm wrong I stand corrected but there you go
Les

Cool looking, not at all surprised it still works! Things were simpler and better made!

Kirbyklekter,I thought it would look weird on the hardwood floor since it is a vacuum...appreciate your sense of humor tho!

Les, I was thinking it was late 1920's. Not sure.

Also not sure what to do with it. I dont want to keep it,didnt know if I could sell it, or if it is a Goodwill item.

In the next few days,

more members will see your thread and hopefully you can re-home this great looking vac. If you have a couple weeks I'd give it a chance right here. Might be good to update or refresh your thread to keep it positioned near the top of the heap for better exposure! Shipping costs could be a drawback depending on where the prospective parties live. I hope you get some responses before time runs out, good luck.

Wrong. I didn't look at the pics that close. I found on eBay the premier version I believe pr42 perhaps meaning the year. Im pretty sure I was right on first rotating brush roll.
I'm attaching a pic of the premier version.
