Heard a report this week on Good Morning America that vacuum sales are up during this Covid thing and they mentioned Kohl’s had a sale on a Shark rocket stick vac for $149.99 from an original price of $299.99. I think however that the original price was inflated.

Anyway, seems during this stay at home order that people are doing some severe heavy duty house cleaning and perhaps deciding to shop for a new vacuums on line since they now have the time to read reviews and do some research, etc.

Of course the price is inflated. It's like black friday, they jack up the prices, then give you a 'discount.'

Other than people staying at home, a lot of people now are becoming germophobes, and all manner of cleaning products are selling rapidly.

I've heard many restaurants are ripping up carpeting because hard surface floors are easier to sanitize. This just sounds bad for vacuums in general. Especially the traditional dirty air fan uprights.

Our IHOP and Denny's has a central vacuum, I don't know what kind but I see the outlet port underneath the booths. I do know they have a seperator attached to the hose to catch water and other debris they're picking up.

I entertained the thought of installing a HOOVER unit here. But...............a few things happened.
I was told it could be done. in an old house like this.
But, with all the cleaners I have, I really don't NEED it.

Huh. More restaurants should have central vacs. Makes perfect sense. Quiet operation.

Vacuums of ANY sort should NOT be used in restuarants-too much greasy debris on their floors to clog vacuums. They should contract to a truckmount STEAM cleaner-extractor for cleaning their carpets and floors. That should be done monthly. Then use a carpet SWEEPER in between guest visits.I have helped clean out too many grease and food choked vacuums of ALL kinds at the vac places here. The shop suggests the sweepers instead.

Chain restaurants definitely use steam cleaning services - but mom and pop family diners do use vacuum cleaners. The restaurant inside the Jellystone park trailer camp I always was at, they had just a normal $30 Dirt Devil upright they vacuumed with, and often would do it while people were were eating.

Just sounds like an ass-covering excuse to me. If you use the vac, you're breathing whatever's in that filter anyway.
