Hi all, I’m new here and just purchased a Riccar Supralight cordless R10CV online, I can’t wait to get my hands on it and I hope it fulfills all expectations. I researched all the clones/variants I could find and it seemed the Riccar was the highest quality version, I also happened to find the best price on the Riccar, $520 incl. tax and shipping (actually the lowest priced variant I could find was the Tornado Roam for about $50 less but it wasn’t clear if it was from an authorized dealer and the aesthetic is better on the Riccar in my opinion).

I bought it to upgrade from the only other floor vacuum I’ve owned which is a bagless Eureka from Target that my wife got as a gift from her mother 6-7 years ago when she moved in with me. The best thing I can say about the Eureka is that it seems to work well enough, however I hate the maintenance of cleaning filters, clearing clogs because my wife refuses to empty the dustbin until it is tightly packed full. Dealing with that debris really sets off my allergies, itchy skin, puffy face and eyes, inflamed sinuses, runny nose and sneezing... I just hate it and have been wanting a bagged hepa vacuum ever since the first time I maintained the Eureka. I also think the Eureka leaks dust pretty badly evidenced by the caked on dust on the exterior of the unit next to the dustbin seals.

I decided to buy one of the Tacony cordless uprights after I saw a Riccar review on YouTube (Vacuum Wars). I had been occasionally watching vacuum reviews over the last couple years so I would have an idea of what to get when the Eureka kicked the bucket. I know the Riccar is not a brand new design anymore, but it was the first time I had ever seen it, I wasn’t really aware of any brands outside the ones you see in big box stores (shark, Dyson, etc.)

When I saw the Riccar review, I knew I wanted it right away even though my current vacuum is still functioning. The Riccar is light weight and cordless. Most of the time it takes me to vacuum is uncoiling the cord, finding an open outlet, carrying the cord slack around, plugging the cord back in when it falls out from the wall, and then re-coiling the cord onto the unit. The actual vacuuming step is over pretty quickly. So the thought of being able to just grab it from the closet and quickly vacuum and putting it back without the fuss seems great. The Riccar seems to be competitive power wise with the upper range of the corded mainstream bagless vacuums. The Eureka is pretty bulky and consequently, I very rarely vacuum my stairway. The runtime on the battery, at least when new is impressive, it really wouldn’t take me longer than 30 minutes to vacuum my whole house. And then there’s the lack of a tiny dustbin to empty and unclog! Just toss out a neat little bag every couple weeks... I had seen vacuums with these features individually, but when I saw there was a vacuum that combined them all, it was love at first sight! I really hope to love it as much in use as I already do in theory.

What do you all think? Did I make a decent choice? Are there any functional differences between the different brand versions or is it mostly aesthetics and price? What about the commercial brands? Are they more durable?

Please share any feedback, even negative feedback about my choice, and feel free to suggest other cordless, bagged, uprights if you think they’re an even better choice.

Thanks and nice to meet you!

-Alex
