Have you noticed the changes this week on the Aerus website? Hard to find much mention of vacuums, and vacuums are conspicuous by their absence under the "Products" tab. I hope this is just a website error and not the future for Aerus vacuums.

Just checked it out myself and you are 100% correct!

Really really sad.

I doubt it's a mistake, unfortunately.

At least we will still have our vintage beauties!

I did find "theaerusstore.com" that have bags & filters. I'm glad I bought my Guardian Platinum when I did.

They are just forwarding everyone to the Beyond site due to the coronavirus. They moved the vacuum site to aerusvacuums.com. Still making and selling vacuums and parts.

I would hope that this is only a matter of a WIP website, but to leave what is probably one of their best known products off the site even during a revamp is concerning! I hope that we have not lost another giant of the vacuum industry.

I recently purchased a Guardian Angel purifier from my sales rep, and I heard nothing about the vacuums being discontinued. I think it's a website change only, not a warning of doom for the brand, especially since the vacuum site is running.

The "Beyond Aerus" website has been in existence for some time as it's copyrighted in 2019. I stumbled upon it accidentally when I was looking at the Angel purifier, which is on both the "Aerus Vacuums" site and the "Beyond Aerus" site. Strangely, the Air Platinum is on the vacuum site only, and the Beyond Air Platinum, with a different model number, is on the Beyond site only, but the Angel is on both sites with the same model number.

A few weeks ago when I was purchasing the purifier, I noticed that the standard "Aerus Home" website was having problems loading its default address. And even today, when I was on the Beyond site, it produced an error message.

It's all conjecture, but I'm guessing that there are some changes happening to the websites, and during a pandemic when people aren't apt to spend thousands on a vacuum, it probably isn't a rush to finalize the site changes. It might even make sense, as one of you said, for visitors to be funneled to the Beyond site during the pandemic since that site lists more purification devices and "NASA" technologies, which don't really apply to vacuums but do apply to virus-killing air purifiers.

Hopefully sooner or later, the Aerus Home page displays two choices... Vacuums or Beyond Aerus for everything else. I really don't see the need to split the products, but the "Home" page really needs to make the choice between the two clear, or there needs to be a better, more obvious way to switch from vacuums to Beyond and Beyond to vacuums.

I just see rebranded Blue Air purifiers.

I hope they haven't stopped making vacuums. I'll see what the next week pans out to be.

I always liked the "L" shaped Electrolux Power nozzles, dusting brushes ( I still have several), and Sidekicks (I have three adapted for CV use)

However, their CV system is abysmal.  Bottom fill, "bagless" with a stinky filter one has to handle, and look at that HOSE !  It's wire reinforced.  That's so OLD and heavy and crushable.  And no sound insulation on that motor.  Awful.

And all their products are this awful shade of "escaped a house fire with smoke damage" dark gray.  How wonderful.  The canisters are the same ones they've had for at least 20 years.

And their still trying to sell that shampooer from the 1960s.  LOL.  Where is an Aerus carpet cleaner?  Have they just surrendered serious competition to Bissell and Hoover?

The CentraLux is a joke-messy,nasty bagless design-the foam filter does a poor job in keeping the fine dust from the motor and fans. The tri brush floor machine is good for just that--hard floors. For carpets they need to come up with an extractor style machine-puts down the carpet cleaner-agitates it than sucks the dirty stuff back up.The vac dealer near me has replaced several blown Lux Central machines with MD BAGGED units.I would think its wire hose would be inflexible and VERY heavy to drag around.Mentioned those ills to the local Aerus dealer.Funny they make EXCELLENT bagged portable vacuums but still have that bagless CV horror.

Yeah I really don't know why Aerus thinks they need to offer a central vacuum. There are too many better choices. If I were Aerus I would either have MD or Vacuflo make a unit for me or just drop it. And I agree that a wire reinforced central vac hose is unheard of these days. Get a kit from Sebo, then they could still have the L-shaped power nozzle. And put it on their canister vacuums as well.

These are the changes I would make to the company:

Enforce standard prices among dealers and offer their products online.

Sell the Lux Classic for around $499. It's a basic canister with no HEPA filter.

Seal the unit and put a HEPA filter on the Lux Legacy. Sell it for around $799.

Sell the Lux Platinum for around $1200.

Get rid of the paper bags and switch to cloth HEPA bags.

If you have a HEPA after filter, why wouldn't you be fine with paper bags?

They are 4 ply afterall.  Another feature I liked about the original Electrolux.

It's funny to think I "subsisted" with first an Olympia in 1990, then a new ULtralux Classic in 1993 both of which had NO after filter.  Oh and I can't forget several Electrolux uprights from the 1990s that also did not have any afterfilter.   ohhh, it's been a tough life.

I saw on facebook yesterday at the beyond air purifier can now be bought online for $1999.99. As a matter of fact they had the prices for all aerus products.

central lux and hepa bags

You can get HEPA type C bags, that's what I use in my Aerus classic and Electrolux 2100. And Perfect products also makes a nice clone of these machines.
I've heard nothing but bad things about the Central Lux. That thing sounds awful, and I would never have it anyway since it's bagless. As someone who has central vacuum units from just about every brand, I would say that Drainvac makes the best units, though MD units are good as well. The best unit for most homes is the Drainvac Viper, from what I have seen, it's the most powerful single motor central vacuum unit you can get.

A cloth HEPA bag has better airflow than paper bags. It would also keep the HEPA filter clean longer.

When I first bought my Aerus Lux Platinum-it had a blue paper bag in it.Tried the machine for awhile and checked to see how I did-the blue bag sprung a leak from a pebble I picked up and burst!.So--cleaned out the Platinum with my M1.Then found a trial pack of Filtrete type bags in the box.Used one of those and didn't look back. The Aerus folks provide the Filtrete type bags for the Platinum-but no C bags from them are Filtrete. You have to go to aftermarket bags for those.More than agree the paper bags have to go.And the CentraLux bagless. This machine just hurts their image.Offer a BAGGED Centralux and be done with it!And to top it off the bagless central unit is built in China! They need to steer away from China like other companies should do.

I know the HEPA are better at filtering but the bags are woven plastic.  Have you ever tried to rip one?  You can't do it.

I guess I feel guilty about blatantly throwing away plastic instead of recycling it, but.....

The paper bags would decompose or readily be burned.  Though I've no doubt that much like paper towels, there are some micro fibers in paper vacuum bags as well.

In a CV, paper is fine because it's vented outside.   And cheap.  About $2 a bag. Even if I change them every month that's $24 a year for one CV.  But they usually last 2-3 months.

The MD Silentmaster CV unit I have can use two types of woven bags-An open top one or a completely closed version. The enclosed is easier to replace. The open one is like a GIANT TriStar bag.You replace it when about half full so you can wad the upper neck of the bag over the dust.-then use like a handle to lift out of the machine. Then install a new bag. They are held in by a rubber collar at the top of the bag.The enclosed bag does not use a coller-the open bag holds like 12 gal of debris-the enclosed one about 8.

yeah, I don't know why they do that. It's just about as bad as cleaning out a "bagless". Dust gets on the exposed parts of the inside of the machine and the lid top. And why you pull the bag out dust will become air-borne. Plus you have the rubber piece to clean.

It's like a piece of history that's no longer complete still existing in "the modern world" lol

venting outside

Actually, the only central vacuums that you have to vent outside are true cyclonic ones, and I would suggest avoiding those since they're bagless and when you dump them out it's a big mess. Also, with these units, you have some of the dust going through the motor. With bagged central vacuum units, you don't have any of these issues. I use all of my central vacuum units without pipes, just connect the hose directly to them, the power is awesome.

I remember

marks_here's profile picture
When I was using my Vacuflo I had to keep the screen clean in between dumping the bucket and when I did dump the bucket in the woods, there was a huge dust cloud but now that I'm using a Cyclovac Constructor it's great, just change the bag and go plus it's still vented outside because the smell of the bag was leaving the garage not smelling so well.

One of the HUGE advantages of a CV is the ability to vent outside.

Especially when we are talking, these days, about a world filled with a deadly air borne virus, you want to vacuum and vent outside to get rid of air borne toxins.

Even when I've lived temporary I would open the window and hang a hose or pipe out the window a distance to get rid of that exhaust air.
