Hey all,

I haven't participated here much at all for some time. Kind of seems like it's been a bit quiet in general, looking around. I hope y'all are doing well. Strange times we're living in.

On to the subject at hand.
I needed another Aerus/Electrolux canister like a hole in the head. But...someone found one at an estate sale, and was reselling it. I'm apparently the only interested party, and if I didn't buy it, he was going to part out a clean, one-owner vacuum. I felt I had to come to the rescue. Actually, this is my first Aerus Legacy branded machine. All of my others are Electroluxes.
The problem is, the estate sale organizers couldn't find the wands and bare floor brush.
So, I have everything else but.
I don't know the year of the vacuum, but it was the all white with a grey bumper down the sides of the canister/tank. I've always been attracted to that color combination.
I'm wondering if anyone here would have the wands and floor tool for this model, or can recommend a good place to deal with. They would have to be solid white, as is correct for this machine.
None on the eBay. I see them listed at eVacuumstore, but the price would essentially double what I paid for the vacuum. If that's my only avenue, and if they have a solid reputation, I'll just have to bite the bullet and pay it, I guess.
They don't seem to have the correct floor brush though. They have ones that would work, but I'm looking for it to be the correct color too. Theirs all seem to have a blue bumper.
While I think the original one for this vacuum would have been solid white, I would even settle for white with a grey bumper. At least that would match the main body colors.
The ultimate would be a flip floor tool in white with a grey bumper, but I don't think any such animal was ever made.

I know I've gone and gotten too wordy again. Sorry. Thank you for reading all of this, anyone who stuck with it!
I appreciate any and all help, suggestions, advice.

Barry

Hello

Hi there, I believe they did sell the flip over rug and floor tool in the White and gray combination but it was only standard on the Guardian Ultra which was the top of the line at the time, the neck is slightly longer though. So it will likely be a harder find and you’ll have to watch ebay continuously for one to pop up. The light blue and blue bumper one is often sold as an aftermarket copy. I have a Lux Legacy I got last fall in the light blue with medium blue bumper and it has both the floor brush that is pretty well used and flip over rug and floor brush which was almost never used. I do like keeping things color correct but Aerus changes colors every now and then so replacement or additional parts will only be the color they are currently making usually unless they have some old stock.

I have a floor brush for your model in dark gray I’d part with but it wouldn’t be color correct. I believe it is the renaissance dark gray.

I had some dark gray wands years ago from a renaissance I parted out amongst other Electrolux products I had because the hose electronics went bad and it was going to be $289 for a new hose and circuit board to fix it. It was a friends machine she had bought used off eBay, it worked for several years for her then developed the problem and so she gave it to me since the whole thing was useless to her. I threw away the wands because I didn’t have any other plastic wand style Electrolux or Aerus products and preferred the metal wand system. Now I wish I hadn’t as it would be nice to have them if I want to make the wands longer or leave the floor brush on one set and the power nozzle on the other so I don’t have to bend down when changing from one to the other the way I can with the metal wand system.

I was a bit hesitant to buy the Lux Legacy when I saw it because I don’t really like the plastic wand system as much always having had the metal system on many, many machine of my own and in the family. I did decide to get it because looking at it closely, the power nozzle and sidekick, flip over rug and floor tool, crevice tool, and dusting brush/upholstery tool all seemed to have virtually no wear on them and the machine and hose were in very good condition so it was obviously very lightly used. Mostly used with just the one sided floor brush as that had more scratches and dirt on it then anything else. I’m guessing it lived in a house with mostly hardwood floors and was purchased originally because the owner wanted something good for hardwoods as during the period this machine was made in the mid 2000s...there weren’t as many good options for hardwoods where nothing touched the floor except the bristles. Small canisters of various brands at the time hard really cheap horrid floor tools that were usually plastic with maybe a switch to extend some really hard bristles and maybe a rubber squeegee. Brands like Miele had metal or plastic on the bottom with some bristles and were generally harder to find. Oreck had a canister with a nice floor brush, but you had to carry around the canister and not everyone likes that method.

I did decide to buy the Lux Legacy and glad I did as I know it will be serviceable for a long time to come because they currently still make it and my daily driver Electrolux Silverado is beginning to make sounds of motor bearing wear so I know it could crap out any day. In the end, I paid $22 for it from habitat for humanity. They had a price tag of $39.99 on it but apparently they had a store special going of 50 percent off all appliances I wasn’t aware of so when the guy rang it up and told me it was $22, he told me of the sale and I was even more elated as I wouldn’t have though it qualified...I was figuring that would be on stoves, fridges, etc...but then I thought...well...it is an appliance! I’m mostly pleased because I do like the new products but not the price so much so this was a wonderful deal on one that seems to have very little use on it and was complete with everything. They even had 47 home solutions bags there that were brought in with it but they charged me $5 additionally for those but that’s ok.

You may wish to buy some used non matching wands and a floor brush off eBay for cheap to use for a while until you find some color correct ones just to get you going. Befriend an Aerus store rep and they might give you some used color correct ones if they have some from a trade in. Especially if you tell him you really want your machine to look color correct for a collection. They know some people like the stuff to match and others don’t care about the matching colors as long as the replacement part works.

I’ve learned that even Electrolux didn’t sell things completely color matching, especially during the transitional years from one color to another. My friend had a Blue Model L, bought new, equipped with a gold hose from the golden jubilee era. The vacuum was bought in 1975 during the Golden Jubilee era, and the power nozzle was also of that era, but the floor brush, canister, crevice tool, and dusting brush upholstery tool were all the blue...so it was a mix of two color periods. The nice thing is, that regardless of color, all of the parts were made to work with almost all models and that’s why you will see so many various different color combinations out there used. All the metal wand stuff is interchangeable and almost all the plastic wand stuff is interchangeable and now I believe there are two different styles of the plastic wands. The hoses can be interchangeable depending on the series as over the years they changed the machine ends with a major canister design change and some of the handles have either been updated or modified but usually can be interchangeable over a range of models.

Hope you find what you want soon and with some persistence on eBay you likely will in time.

Excuse typos, too long to proofread and I’m tired now!

Jon

Hey Jon,

Thanks for the reply.
I'm probably just going to buy the aftermarket wands from eVacuumstore for now.
I have no experience with the aftermarket ones. Hopefully, the quality is decent.
If I happen to eventually find a set of genuine ones, reasonably priced, I can always pick them up too.
For some reason, the solid white ones seem harder to find.
I see a few grey and white, and you can find blue and white all day long.

Guardian Ultra flip over

Hey just a heads up the Guardian ultra was, to my knowledge, the 1st of the lux units to carry the "new" style wands. Which were used on the tristar EXL/MG/CS machines as well as the lux platinum. These were slightly smaller than the wands used on the 6500/renaissance/guardian etc machines. So the neck of it wouldn't be compatible unless you were to swap the neck.

Blackheart, I am pretty sure you are correct on that. I can swap power nozzles on my Aerus Guardian Platinum with my Tri-Star CS, however I can do that with the Renaissance power nozzle or my LE power nozzle.

Barry,

I don't have the wands but here's some specifics about the tank cleaner:

Model: C153D (specifications on inner bag door)
Production Years: 2009-13
Matching Power Nozzle: N137T
Matching Sidekick II: K148C

Btw, If you'd like to know when your Lux Legacy was sold the first time, provide Aerus with the serial number (5-digit production number between the 2-letter series on the stabilizer).

Congrats on your purchase and best wishes in finding attachments.

Thanks Paul!

The last thing I needed was another one of these vacuums. But, I couldn't resist.
I like the color combination. It's my first example bearing the Aerus brand. And, if I didn't buy it, it was going to be parted out. And it looked too clean and complete for that. Well, except for the wands and floor brush.
I have a spare floor brush I can use on it, it's just not the correct color. And I already have aftermarket wands on order.
This really is a sickness, isn't it.

@Paul:

Hey PAUL it’s great that you know the years the white color was out. I have an Aerus Lux legacy too in the very light blue, almost white, with medium blue trim. Model c153c...would it be correct then that it was produced from 2003 through 2008? Seems like they are changing colors model numbers every six years?

I may email Aerus corporate with the serial number to find out when it was first sold.

Jon

I meant to post about that.
I contacted Aerus, and my white Legacy was built in October of 2013, and first sold in December of the same year.
