Nice wake-up call just now... 3.8/3.9-magnitude quake. Doesn't sound like much but the epicenter was only a couple miles away. It felt like a sharp jolt then brief rumbling.

When I lived in Northern CA. from 2012 to 2015, it was around 2014 when I was living near a hot spot. One evening a quake hit and it sounded like a freight train was rumbling through.

I was living in a tiny house on wheel that was parked but was still partly sitting on the tires.

It was kind of a cool experience because the rubber tires allowed the home to gently bounce and sway with no damages. Even though I almost lost my footing while standing in the kitchen.

If I were ever to live in an earthquake prone area again, it would have to be in such a home, an RV, or a single wide mobile home. Those you can cushion and easily reposition your home when a quake hits.

I can only imagine the horror of being directly attached to the earth in a slab on grade home or apartment building, then a quake hits and you realize the slabs cracked.... and shifted..... and the building is left uninhabitable. Or worse yet, the shifting ground causes the building to collapse.

Yeah my friends and I were playing a game of Stellaris last night, and out of the blue the guy from LA yells 'earthquake!'

Incidentally, I know where you live now :3
