This is my first time polishing any Kirby with a power tool. I was using a Black & Decker D 1000 drill with a wool pad and mothers polish and I have to say it’s a million times better than hand polishing. I think I did a pretty good job

Nice work. Like the package says, "There's no shine like Mother's". I use the same setup for polishing my Kirbys as well. Maybe I'll get to work on one of mine this weekend.

Nice

It looks good. The nozzles on classics are tough. I sanded mine by hand and polished by hand. I need to sand more and polish again.
I'm going to use my color roughess and finish with machine polish with mothers mag.
Your vacuum is proof it works.
Congrats
Les

Yeah hand polishing is a joke. That's kind of for things that are still perfectly polished, but just need a touch up. Looks like you have some deep scratches on the front :(

yeah this classic 3 came from the Plano shop and it sounded like the original owners weren't very gentle with it

I got the omega that was really bad. I sanded it by hand for an hour and I still have another couple hours. The scratches are so deep I'm not sure there is enough metal to make it perfect.

When I saw your first set of photos

I thought oh that looks alright I suppose, but when I got to the second set, I was like oh that's what he's talking about, now that's a good shine! The trim colors really pop with shiny metal, especially the reds like your Classic 3. Nice.

Seen this but never used it. I have used the top brite mentioned in the thread. It was costly but it was about the same quality as mothers mag.

Hmm

Show cars is more appealing than motorcycles.
Just a personal preference.

To be fair

When I tried using the Blue Magic polishing creme, I applied it over an area that I had already polished with Mothers, so of course I'm going to get more shine. I would have with a second polishing with Mothers too, so there's that. Much of the chrome on my friends dad's collection had been sent out to a place like Faith Plating where they dip the pieces 2 or more times in (chrome?) or however the process is done. I hear it's spendy so large batches are done at a time. I'll never get that level of shine at home, although I've seen some of the collectors machines here at Vacland with some really jaw dropping results from polishing.

That G3 looks really nice. Kind of inspires me take my sad old G5 'frankenkirby' out to the deck and see what I can do with it. I tried shining it up a few years ago but it still needs some tough love.
