Hallo,

since one week IŽm a proud owner of a Electrolux Z(G) 65.
It came from a rubbish in the neighbourhood and is in quite a good condition.
Nevertheless I would be very thankfull if You could help me on some problems, I have with it.

One Problem is, that the handle is broken. I tried to fix it with Expoxyd Glue (2 Components) but it doesnŽt stick together very good, one has to use it very carefully othervice its breaking in parts again.

The other problem is, that the hose is not firmly enough fixed to the telecope tube. Maybe there is a kind of rubber ring which is missing?

Perhaps is here anybody who could help me with some pictures or with a copy of the manual?

Thank you for reading and sorry for my rusty English.

Greetings from Germany!

Herrmann.

I hate to tell you this, but the handle looks like it has become too brittle to be used. Even if the glue holds that big break, it appears to be breaking by the screws as well. You know, this might be a good thing to 3D print. Or... make a mold, and make a new one out of epoxy resin.

Hallo, thank you. I am afraid you are right. I'll try to built a new handle to replace this one.

Congratulations, Herrmann; even with the cracked handle it's a great find!

According to the UK Electrolux timeline brochure uploaded by Doug Smith, the Z65 was manufactured between 1960 and 1965 in rose red and ivory. So the ZG was either the same or around the same time.

Anyway, you can use Vacuumland's search engine to find photos of others'.

Hopefully, you'll be able to locate a spare handle from a parted-out cleaner.

Happy Electroluxing!

Model Number Prefixes

As an aside, it seems to me that since 'Z' is the international abbreviation for the German word 'integer', that is what it likely represents in 'ZG65'. The abbreviation was constructed in the 1930s by N. Bourbaki, a group of mostly French mathematicians which wrote a complete account of all mathematics terms. AB Electrolux and its subsidiaries began using it with their model numbers in that decade.

Due to the fact that the Swedish company became a minority shareholder of the U.S. company, making it an affiliate in c.1928, our cleaners' model numbers never bore the abbreviation.

The second letter such as 'G' in your cleaner's case, represented a country's modification of an original design, Swedish or otherwise. Besides 'G' for German modifications, was 'A' for the UK, Malaysian & others; 'B' for Canadian, 'C' for Italian & French, et cetera. Presumably, it matched the type of plug used.

Glad to hear that, Herrmann. Even though I'm sure you wish it didn't have the imperfection, the hunt can be fun.

Take care.

Hallo!

IŽm sure, IŽll find a solution for the handle. If there is no other way, I will recreate one from plywood.
I want to use this Cleaner to clear my flat in future.
There ist another question for me: With the vacuum cleaner there was a dustbag made of cloth: Is this enough for using or has there to be put an extra paperbag into the clothmade bag? When I got it there was both, a cloth one and in it another made of paper.

Herrmann.
