So is anyone buying a vacuum with their stimulus check? I’m thinking about buying a Hoover total home pet from Walmart.

Cool! I have Electrolux coming out every crevice lol! I haven’t bought a brand new vacuum in over 10 years. I’ve had plenty of vintage ones and used ones come and go often. Kind of feeling the need to unbox a new one.

Is it really a stimulus check?

Well..I keep saying it’s purpose is more to rescue many people from financial ruin so should it really be called Stimulus? That term was derived in 2008 to put money in American’s pockets to spend to “stimulate” the economy. While those who don’t need it may use it in this way, it’s purpose moreso this time is to rescue those who have lost jobs or ability to pay for things so the check should be called rescue funds.

With mine, since I’m thankful to be fortunate enough to not need it, we will use it for our niece, who has lost her job and rents a house from us. We will put it towards her rent payments to pay the mortgage on the house....she will be getting one too but it will go further for her if we donate ours to someone who really needs it and we are hoping that she will find work again as soon as restaurants are allowed to open again for full service AND people resume going.

But it is a fun idea to have some pleasure hobby spending if one wants to. No judging here!

Mine is going in the bank. I still have a job, but if this keeps going who knows. Definitely won't be buying any vacuums, but that's just me.

I don't even know if I will get one as I do not make enough money to even file taxes.

I always thought that this check was more of an unemployment check - you had to have a job in order to get it. And furthermore that it was a loan - you had to pay it back. It's all really confusing.

I think the Kloveland’s point was to discuss what vacuums are on our wish lists that we may get with the stimulus, not the stimulus itself.

I’d love a Guardian Platinum again. But it would take a bit more than the stimulus to get one new.

But...Lux Luthor

While it might not pay for the entire thing...That check could make a sizable dent in the price of that Platinum that comes out of your pocket!

I might get a $500 check (17), and if I do, I would only spend about $150-200 and save the rest for a car or other investment. It would be cool to get an extra $500, as I have numerous projects that are half completed due to insufficient funds.

They have a site you go to to get a check. You don't have to do taxes to get it.
It's not a loan.
It's the government were never going to get nation out of debt.
The check is to stimulate the economy with spending money.
I'm paying bills. The sooner things get paid off the better.

I'm stashing it in savings to go towards the down payment for the new house. I have all the vacuums I need. I may do a grocery haul and really finish shocking up. Who knows.

No new vacuums here.

It appears that most will be deposited tomorrow or consecutive Wednesdays.

Yes, but you can't discuss what vacuums you can get with the check unless you know for sure you're getting it. I thought maybe someone would help out, which is why I posted it, but I guess not.

Les, thank you for that information. You are a great help. I will look into that and see if I am applicable for it. All this gubberment money stuff is so confusing!

I could say I pre-spent a total of $30 of my stimulus funds ($17 on a replacement cord winder and $13 on a dozen generic after filters) for my Electrolux Diplomat LX, which I recently rescued from beside a dumpster. Does that count?

Although I don't need the extra money as extra money is always nice, I am still doing what one should responsibly do with it and paying my bills due to the fact that one never knows what the future holds.

I did buy one for $90.00 on eBay new. I did what you did Mike. I saved the rest. Things are going well for me also. I've been moved to the online learning department at my college. I think I'll be alright. But you never know. Always wise to save and I've been saving long before the mess we are in now.

I didn't buy a vacuum... But I did buy my DNA Ancestry kit. This should be interesting.

vacuflo DB9000

That is the machine I am getting, and this will complete my collection of the 240 volt bagged central vacuum units that I want to get, four total.

I don't know n0xy

How about a nice Top fill MD Flo-master CV?  Easier to change the bag.

If you specifically want 240 volt, that can be arranged too.

got my vacuflo

Got my DB9000, it's awesome, what a beast. I also have an MD Flomaster M85, it's a nice unit. Looking at the specs of MD's 240 volt units, they are not as powerful as the other 240 volt units that I have. The MD units also come in a 120 volt version but you need a 30 amp circuit, much better to go the 240 route.

Not sure what you're talkin about that stimulus check doesn't even pay half my property taxes.

Do enjoy your Hoover though!

Okay I FINALLY got the money! Now I can finally comment and say I got a Hoover Z400! I only spent $90 out of my $1.2k - the rest is going to savings as a car fund.

The vac will need a looking over - but now my Z700 can be reunited with its long lost brother - and they can share the cleanout port gasket that my Z700 is missing (and I can find somewhere that can duplicate rubber parts I hope)
