So I just pick up a beam 2900 central vac for $50 plus the hose and PN. I would like to have some more information on it. Like when it came out, how powerful it is and should I install it in my home?

I don't have any information about when this model came out or how powerful it is, but it was likely manufactured by Electrolux. I used to have a similar Electrolux made machine that was branded as a Honeywell unit.

If you don't already have a central vac then hell yeah you should install it. If you already have a system and you're thinking about swapping out the unit for this one then that's up to you, it wouldn't hurt to try it if you're curious.

The Beam 2900 was the most powerful machine in Beam's lineup from about 2001 to 2006. It has dual two-stage 2
5.7" motors in "air parallel" and runs off a 240 volt, 15 amp circuit. It will suck the paint off the wall! The ratings are the same as the Beam 3500 machine they have made since then. Around 120" max sealed waterlift, and about 230 max CFM. Your mileage may vary of course, but either way this machine was made to service installations in the largest homes (Beam rated this machine as being able to handle 15,000 square feet).

There should be a pair of exhaust mufflers hanging off the motor exhaust ports on the right side of the machine. If there aren't, you will want to get these - they will turn the jet engine sound down to a dull roar. Also recommended is a new filter - while this unit did originally come with the single layer filter with Goretex coating, by now it's probably pretty gross and the coating may have even started to flake off. The new filter should be a 110348 - 14" diameter.

Hope this helps!

Owen
