This was something I bought a few years ago on eBay. I had never seen one of these before then. I’ve seen the Bosch and Dirt Devil version, but not these. About when did they sell these? Was there any difference between it and the X3 other than the color?

According to the manuals on both of them, somewhere in 2005 was when these came out at (I also even first saw these at around 2005) and I don't think they've sold them for very long. Probably for only a year or no more than two for my best guess. They were then replaced by the Dirt Devil i with it's improved cyclonic dirt bin back in 2007.

Also, both the X3 and the X5 are technically the exact same vacuums. The only major differences between the two other than the colors and the model numbers was that the X5 came with a turbo tool and also what's called a flex-n-hold wand. You could've still ordered those other two attachments for the X3.

On a side note here, I have a neighbor that did owned the X5. I'm not sure if they still have it or not but I would be surprised if they still do. I've used it for quite some time, maybe a couple years or so. I actually did liked that vacuum, I even used it more than their NuTone CV450 central vacuum with a Lindhaus PB14 power nozzle because it felt like it picked up more on the carpets better than the central vacuum. Later I would come to realize that either the bottom plate on the Lindhaus was not put back on correctly or the brushroll needed to be replaced. It definitely needed a new squeegee underneath the power nozzle because I remember it would scatter and kick dirt back at my feet. Anyways, my only criticisms with the X5 was the suction motor did get hot really fast. And the filters would plug up frequently, thank goodness they have a central vac to clean out the filters which didn't take long to do but it was still recommended to wash the filters. I bet that was why the Dirt Devil i came out with a better cyclonic dirt bin. The turbo tool was not as good as I was hoping for it to be but I've used worse before, I think the turbo tool on the Dirt Devil i was also better. I don't think I remember using the other attachments for it including the flex wand, I think they got lost somewhere but I do remember the seasonal scented exhaust filters I think they later ordered for it. I've used all four of them and the scents didn't seem to last for very long, the odor would later mix in with the dirt and carbon dust that would leak out of the motor. But other than that, it was overall a decent vacuum for what it is. I think I would prefer the Dirt Devil i over the X3/X5 but I would still love to have the X3 and/or the X5 for my collection.
