Tonight marks the 39th anniversary of the death of my aunt. She was the first to have a 1076 Convertible in our family. I saw it, brand new, in her home in 1973. It is what caused me to obtain my own. Last year, I was given hers, along with a Connie. Both were used and abused. Last summer, they both returned to North Canton and were revived from the dead by Tom Anderson.
My personal 1076 is still in "pristine" condition, having been given stellar service by Gnall Jones in Wilkes-Barre, then, by Sweeper Central in Scranton. So, tonight, I think I'll run mine upstairs, and my aunt's downstairs. Great machines, indeed. |

Wow 40 years, such a long time, that is excellent that they managed to stay in the family and not get lost or discarded. It's always nice to have something still around that is the specific one from your childhood and not just another model bought off eBay - it makes it all the more special.
I still have my great grandmother's Olympia One Electrolux. The only reason it got sidelined is because the power nozzle brushroll belt or brushroll itself did not want to stay in place and kept stopping. Now the last I seen it somehow the bag latch door broke off. It hasn't been turned on since 2002. I hope to get it restored eventually once I have a workbench set up. Hoping it is an easy fix. I think I am more tactile at repairs now than when I last looked at it in 2013 or so. |
