Something else I came across in my workshop the other day was an Electrolux three-row power nozzle brush roll for the PN-1.

I have two of them; I got them from a retired Electrolux regional sales manager. (See photo for comparison.)  He said that they came as standard equipment in power nozzles for the CA and CB commercial machines. But he said anyone could request them and he upgraded quite a few customers' power nozzles.

(Electrolux also had a third version with softer bristles for use on Oriental rugs and other delicate carpeting.)

I decided to put the three-row version in my Model L power nozzle. My goodness! What an improvement. The power nozzle cleans carpets even faster than before. You can really hear the increased power of the three rows of bristles.

Hey Charles,
When my mother bought the turquoise hospital G, it came with the 3-row brush roll and the salesman used it as a sales tool. I was very impressed and convinced my mother we, "had to have it!", since they had wall to wall wool carpet and quite a few oriental rugs.

She said to me, (I was about 14 at the time), "Do we really need this?", and I instantly said yes. Well, you could tell the difference between the 2 and 3 row brush roll right away. It was not any harder to push or use. It groomed the carpet beautifully! We had two dogs and a cat at the time along with five children and two adults.

I later learned from the Lux office in Atlanta that the 3 row put too much torque on the PN-1 motor and burned them out. They quite making them due to that. If you ever want to sell one, let me know! I'd love to put one in my G.

Thanks for pictures as I'm sure there are some folks that were not aware of this.

I had bought two Pn-1 nozzles some time back out of the back room in an old vac shop, both of which had 3-row brushes.
One power nozzle was a total write off, the motor was shot and the plastic hood looked awful. I had saved the brushroll, but ended up passing it along to Luke G for his Hospital G.
I rebuilt the other power nozzle and now that one is with my Hospital G, although it has a 1205 color hood.
