Ohh boy, where do I start. I was a child of the 2000s, when awful cheap bagless vacuums were abundant. I've compiled a list of all of the 2000s bagless plastic vacuums that I've hated.
1. Hoover Whisper. Really heavy, cheap brittle plastic, poor suction, and unreliable electronics make this vacuum quite awful. It is very quiet, however. 2. Hoover Savvy. The dual brushroll models were especially failure prone. The Twin Chamber filter system is nasty to empty and clean. The electronic components on this model are very cheap, with some units completely failing in under a year. Despite some models sporting two brushrolls, performance was lackluster at best. 3. Hoover Z. Self explanatory. 4. Hoover Windtunnel 2. Horrible filtration and brittle plastic. 5. Bissell TripleClean Professional. Extremely brittle plastic where the handle attaches, leading to the handle ripping off of the unit after a year or two. Inefficient cyclone system. 6. Bissell Healthy Home. ALMOST 29 LBS!!!! Very bulky and heavy, and it uses an inefficient cyclone. 7. Bissell CleanView. Extremely poor filtration often leads to premature motor failure. 8. Eureka Capture. Awful build quality and filtration often led to premature motor failure. 9. Eureka Altima. Filtration is horrible and the bagless system is a mess to deal with. 10 Eureka Maxima. I could write a whole paragraph about this one. Horrible build quality and a tiny filter that clogs almost immediately are just some of the things I hate about this vacuum. 11. Older Euro-Pro/Shark/Fantom. Horrible brittle plastic and awful filtration. The model pictured has a nasty habit of overheating to the point where it warps the housing. I'm sure I'll think of some more crappy plastic vacs. Just give me time. |

Bagless Eurekas are awful; I tried fixing a yellow Altima for my local science camp. I took it apart down to the motor and thoroughly checked every single filter and airflow pathway for clogs or holes. Even after all of that, it barely had enough suction to suck up surface dust!
The worst? The Dirt Devil Pro Power(small head). Even for Dirt Devils it is bad. The oddly designed filter cone traps hair in one minute of vacuuming and blows dust everywhere. It is one of the few vacs I have returned to the trash. |

This is very bad. One major design fail really ruins this vacuum. It's the bin/cyclone system. Bin is two part system where the other part is the cyclone and other part is container where the dust is supposed to go. In the small cyclone chamber there is pleated filter and that causes constant blockages. Whole bin/cyclone system is useless because dust can't get past the cyclone and to the bin section. Well some dust ends to the bin, but not much. So in normal vacuuming it doesn't take long before the filter and cyclone clogs and causes terrible suction loss. Motor is cheap Chinese high pitched loud screamer. I ended up taking the motor out and saving it. Rest of the vacuum ended up to the trash can. |
