Lately I've been wanting to find a nice Dirt Devil Broom vac. Preferably the newer DB720 with the more modern DD bag. I always thought these were highly interesting in the sense that it is essentially the hand vac turned into an upright. Were they any good? I've used the Hand Vac version before and thought it was pretty decent. Can the same be said for these?

I think so.

I think they're decent cleaners I'd say upper middle of the line performance wise. They're also super cause they're like a tiny plastic royal (in ways)

Thanks for letting me know. These have caught my attention for quite a while now. Something about them is just really cool. That fact it looks like a miniature Royal and or Kirby is one thing for sure.

Hi John

Although I don't post on here much anymore I do have a couple of machines you might be interested in, one is the broom vac which has been service and is in really nice shape, and the other is a spare ultra MVP that I have that I know runs. I also noticed that you are from NY which part if i may ask? and lastly I am having a mini meet on April 18th with a whole bunch of collectors if you are interested in joining us you are more than welcome!

Mike

BROOM VACS ARE AMAZING

They work perfectly on hardwood floors. I live in an apartment and I don't even need to sweep, I just use the broomvac.
They are rare... it took me years to find one. I got one at a flea market last year!

I donated two of these over the past three months. I had one as a kid. As an adult I’m not overly attached to them.

I had one at one time

Curb find for me. It worked just fine. I didn’t care for the power switch down at the bottom, not on the handle and it wasn’t really made to be a foot switch. Also, it wouldn’t act right when pulling it back towards me on carpet, it would often flip up from the front off the carpet. Going forward was ok. It was convenient for stairs and quick but thorough clean ups of carpet but no good for wood floors with the metal bottom plate. Couldn’t get bags for it but found something else by DD that worked. Telescoping handle was nice as I could put the unit in my car with my tools to take to a home repair or remodel job when I needed something a bit stronger for carpet than my little shop vac hand held I had at the time. I think I gave it away to goodwill eventually when trying to downsize.

And...

I felt the suction was lackluster and the brush roll only had one row of bristles so you had to go slow on carpet with it or it would leave missed spots that you could see a bit that got fluffed and some that didn’t of the carpet. I remember as thought it sounded a lot like a Regina Electrikbroom.

I have seen a couple at thrift stores and ended picking one up. Someone bypassed the switch but otherwise works perfectly. The only two things I do not like about it are that it does not have a swivel cord hook, and the handle lock wears out quickly which causes it to fall over a LOT.

I used to have one, it was OK. I thought it looked cool but it was nothing special in terms of cleaning ability. I've passed up a couple of chances to get a few more since then.

I'd really like to get my hands on one just to primarily have as a collectible. I like the look of the 712 the best.
